challenging environments.\nJob Purpose:\nLead the design, development, and integration of high-precision optomechanical systems for space applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability in challenging environments\nResponsibilities:\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nWork closely and assist in cross-functional collaboration with optomechanical engineers, optomechanical designers, optical designers, thermal engineers, and structural engineers.\nProvide technical support and guidance to team members\nCommunicate effectively to resolve issues and ensure project success\nEngage with local and international suppliers and partners to ensure quality and delivery timelines.\nProduct Design\nLead the detailed design and development of high-precision optomechanical systems for spaceborne applications\nDevelop detailed 3D CAD models and high-tolerance drawings of optomechanical components\nEvaluation and Analysis\nEvaluate proposed designs for manufacturability, performance, and reliability\nPerform tolerance and sensitivity analysis and ensure stability over environmental ranges\nIntegration and Testing\nOversee the integration of optical and mechanical components to ensure proper alignment and functionality\nDevelop and execute comprehensive test plans, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, and shock tests)\nAnalyse test and measurement data to validate system performance and make necessary adjustments\nProject Management\nCoordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met\nManage timelines, resources, and documentation for optomechanical activities\nPrepare and present project status reports to stakeholders\nQuality Assurance\nImplement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards\nConduct inspections and audits of optomechanical systems\nAddress and resolve any non-conformances\nDocumentation and Reporting\nPrepare technical documentation, including design documentation, work instructions, build history documentation, test reports, and customer documentation\nMaintain detailed design and development procedures for optomechanical systems.\nMaintain detailed records of design, assembly, integration, and testing activities\nEnsure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible\nContinuous Improvement\nStay updated with the latest advancements in optomechanical engineering and space industry standards\nIdentify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices\nRequired Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree, Mechanical Engineering, Optomechanical Engineering, or a related field\nRequired Experience:\nMaster's in Optomechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field\n 5 - 10 years of experience in mechanical or optomechanical engineering roles, preferably in the space industry\nExtensive experience in designing and developing optomechanical systems, including optical mounts, lenses, mirrors, sensors, and prisms\nStrong ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including optical, mechanical, structural, thermal and electrical engineers\nExperience in providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members\nProficiency in CAD software\nExperience in developing and operating complex test equipment to validate optomechanical systems\nHands-on experience with the testing and validation of optical systems, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, and shock tests)\nProven track record of managing projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management\nExperience in preparing and presenting project status reports to stakeholders\nFamiliarity with industry standards and compliance requirements\nAbility to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment\nRecommendations:\nPh.D. in Optomechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field\nExperience working in the aerospace or defence industries, particularly with spaceborne optical systems\nExpertise in space-qualified materials and adhesives\nKnowledge of thermal management techniques for optical systems in space environments\nExperience with Siemens Teamcenter and NX software\nKnowledge and experience working in a cleanroom environment\nFamiliarity with cleanroom protocols and procedures\nExperience in system
