You will work closely with product, design, frontend, and data/AI teams to build reliable, performant systems and intuitive user experiences, while driving engineering excellence and modern development practices. Your contributions will shape the technical foundation of an AI-first product and directly influence the experience of end users.\nWhat does the day to day of a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Similarweb look like:\nYour daily work will span backend architecture, frontend collaboration, and AI-augmented development, engaging directly with the systems that power our product.\nYour role will include:\nDesign and build scalable, maintainable backend services using NestJS (Node.js/TypeScript) and/or Python\nOwn API design, contracts, and versioning across services\nDesign and optimize data models, database schemas, and query performance\nImplement authentication, authorization, and secure API integration patterns\nBuild reliable data-fetching layers, caching strategies, and async processing (queues, jobs, events)\nLead backend technical decisions, code quality standards, and system architecture\nEnsure system scalability, fault tolerance, and observability (logging, monitoring, alerting)\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices for backend services\nCollaborate on frontend applications built with React, TypeScript, and Vite, and contribute to API contracts from the consumer's perspective\nPartner with frontend engineers to align on data shapes, performance, and UX constraints\nTranslate product requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions, working closely with product and design\nConduct high-quality code reviews and drive architectural discussions and best practices\nImprove testing, observability, CI/CD, and system reliability across the team\nUse AI coding tools effectively in daily development work (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.), critically evaluating and refining AI-generated code, especially for backend logic and data integrity\nDesign efficient personal/team workflows for AI-assisted development and contribute to engineering productivity through AI tooling and automation\nWhat does the ideal candidate look like:\n5+ years of Full stack or Backend engineering experience, with a strong backend focus(80%)- Must\nStrong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS; Python proficiency also welcome (or equivalent backend framework)- Must\nSolid working proficiency in React and modern frontend fundamentals (HTML, CSS)\nExperience designing scalable backend architectures and data models\nDeep understanding of API design, authentication flows, and distributed system tradeoffs\nExperience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including query optimization\nStrong understanding of system performance, reliability, and security best practices\nExperience with testing methodologies (unit, integration, E2E) and observability tooling\nHands-on experience using AI development tools in daily workflows, with the ability to validate, debug, and improve AI-generated code\nUnderstanding of prompt engineering for engineering workflows and the ability to work effectively in fast iteration environments\nStrong product and technical intuition, with excellent communication and collaboration skills\nNice to have: experience with data platforms, analytics products, or BI tools; large-scale data processing or query optimization; streaming/real-time data patterns; or integrating with LLM APIs\nWhy you'll love being a Similarwebber:\nYou'll actually love the product you work with: Our customers aren't our only raving fans.
