PURPOSE\nWork within the Marketing department to support the global PR/Media Relations team with all aspects of media administration and related reporting, including certain communications directly with the media.\n*This position is based in Johannesburg\n\nDetailed Responsibilities\nLogging of all media coverage received\nKeeping records of all media coverage received per region, per market (taken from the reports received from the company’s global and regional PR agencies, Newsclip or other coverage reporting tools, directly from the media etc.) \nSaving all the media articles per region, per market.\nReporting on media coverage\nProducing a monthly report on the number of media articles received per region, per market, along with the total number of impressions.\nCompiling monthly reports on all the media coverage generated in Africa, Australia/NZ and Asia, and other markets as/when required.\nCompiling the monthly Media Highlights newsletter based on articles chosen by the PR/Media Relations Managers, using a TouchBase Pro template and sending it out to the internal team.\nProviding reports on the coverage for individual camps as needed.\nMedia LiaisonObtaining more information as necessary in response to requests via our press room for press releases and images.\nAssisting with image selection and sharing directly with media or the media relations managers as required.\nAssistance with research, fact checks and background information as necessary.\nResponding directly to certain media queries in markets where we do not have PR agency representation.\nDistribution of press releases/other media comms via TouchBase Pro/digital medium in markets where we do not have PR agency representation.\nDistribution of press releases/other comms to the relevant tourism board contacts of each country in which we operate.\nMedia database updates\nEnsuring that the media database is updated with new contacts as provided by the media team.\nMaintain the database of existing contacts by adding updates when needed, e.g. following media meetings, press trips, etc.\nUpdating media mailing lists in TouchBase Pro when necessary.\nGeneral PR/Comms assistance\nLoading press releases onto the WS website.\nUpdating the central records with which press releases have been uploaded onto the WS website.\nEditing and submission of press releases to Atta, Traveller Made and other trade marketing sites.\nSaving bios in the correct formats as required.\nAssistance with choosing and cropping images for press releases.\nSaving content, images and background information in the correct folders for team access.\nProcessing of PR agencies’ invoices and relevant clipping services, and follow-up with the Finance team to ensure payments are done.\nGeneral Marketing assistance and excellent WS product knowledge (brand, history, product, philosophy, unique selling points, business model etc.)\nAny reasonable task related to the function of the Marketing, Media and Comms teams.\n\nStay updated on WS product and what is happening in the business.\n\nCANDIDATE PROFILE\nQualification:\nMatric, with above average marks in English.\nComputer-literate (Microsoft Office)\nAn appropriate tertiary qualification in tourism.\n\nExperience:\nAt least 1 years’ experience in the African conservation tourism/travel industry in a marketing environment.\nComprehensive understanding of conservation tourism, PR, communications and marketing.\nExcellent knowledge of WS and the areas in which we operate, as well as other protected areas in Africa.\nSignificant exposure to the travel and tourism industry and relevant stakeholders.\n\nSkills:\nExcellent communication skills, both written and oral, with attention to detail.\nOrganised, methodical, systems-based and good time management skills.\nAbility to work with detail whilst under pressure and take pride in maintaining zero
