The successful candidate will act as the single point of accountability for the product's financial performance, strategy, roadmap, stakeholder relationships, vendor and service performance, technical direction, architecture, security and risk.\nThe ideal candidate will combine strong commercial and product management ability with genuine technical depth and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and make evidence-based decisions.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Financial & Commercial Ownership\nTake ownership of the product's total cost of ownership (TCO), including both operational and change-related costs.\nManage product budgets, costs, unit economics and monthly budget variances.\nTrack contracts, renewals and vendor-related expenditure.\nReview and approve product-related invoices before payment.\nProvide annual, data-driven recommendations regarding product investment and lifecycle decisions.\nMake informed commercial recommendations regarding vendors, renewals, renegotiations or exits.\n2. Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management\nDefine the product vision, purpose, users, value proposition and strategic objectives.\nOwn and maintain a rolling 12+ month product roadmap.\nEnsure the roadmap considers business capability, stakeholders, data and integrations, technology, and risk and compliance.\nDetermine and defend the product's lifecycle strategy, including whether to retain, grow, consolidate, migrate or retire the product.\nEnsure initiatives have clear business sponsors, KPIs and measurable outcomes.\nTrack and demonstrate value realisation, including revenue enabled, costs avoided and operational efficiencies.\n3. Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership\nAct as a strategic technology advisor to business stakeholders.\nUnderstand business needs and challenge requests based on value, cost, feasibility and risk.\nBuild and manage relationships with business leaders, users, technical teams and other key stakeholders.\nConduct regular business and product reviews.\nManage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts constructively.\nRepresent the voice of the customer in prioritisation and investment decisions.\n4. Service & Vendor Performance\nTake overall accountability for the product's service performance, regardless of the delivery model or vendors involved.\nMonitor SLAs, vendor performance, service trends, user adoption and customer satisfaction.\nIdentify performance issues and drive evidence-based escalation and resolution.\nWork closely with the Service Owner, who manages day-to-day service operations.\nMake recommendations regarding vendor renewal, renegotiation or replacement.\n5. Security, Risk & Compliance\nOwn the product's ongoing security, risk and compliance posture.\nEnsure compliance with relevant requirements, including POPIA and GDPR.\nDrive access, identity and privilege management principles such as least privilege and MFA/SSO.\nEnsure vendor security requirements and attestations are appropriately managed.\nEnsure business continuity and disaster recovery documentation and testing are in place.\nIdentify, remediate, accept or escalate product-related risks and ensure residual risks are formally reviewed.\n6. Customer, Market & Technology Insight\nStay informed about market developments, competitors, emerging technologies and industry trends.\nConduct customer discovery and use market insight to influence the product roadmap.\nIdentify opportunities for innovation, automation and AI.\nProvide thought leadership and influence product and technology strategy at leadership level.\nTranslate industry and technology trends into practical business opportunities.\n7. Technical & Architecture Ownership\nTake ownership of key technical and architectural decisions relating to the product.\nUnderstand the product's technology stack, integrations, APIs, data flows and technical debt.\nPartner with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud, Identity and Security teams.\nEvaluate build-versus-buy decisions and modernisation opportunities.\nEnsure technical decisions support scalability, resilience, performance and security.\nWork within established technology and governance standards.\nGovernance & Ways of Working\nThe Product Owner will work within the Product and Service Management framework and maintain key product artefacts, including:\nProduct Definition and Product Charter.\nStakeholder Map and RACI.\nTotal Cost of Ownership workbook.\n12+ month rolling product roadmap.\nProduct KPIs and value-realisation measures.\nThe role will work within established tools and governance processes, including:\nWrike for project management.\nGitLab for development.\nFreshService for support.\n CAB and ITIL principles for change management.\nMinimum Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.\nProduct Management certification such as Pragmatic or SAFe PO/PM would be advantageous.\nMinimum 5 years' experience in one or more of the following:IT Product Ownership\nTechnical Product Management\nSenior Technical roles\nSolution Architecture or Solution Delivery roles\n\nExperience owning or managing the financial performance, P&L or TCO of a product or platform.\nStrong technical background in areas such as:IT Architecture\nCloud\nSoftware Development\nSystems Integration\nAPIs\nData\n\nExperience making technical and architectural decisions.\nExperience managing vendors, contracts and service providers.\nStrong knowledge of IT trends, technologies and best practices.\nLogistics and/or warehousing industry experience would be highly advantageous.\nWorking Environment\nPrimarily office-based.\nFlexibility may be required to support global stakeholders and time zones across APAC, EMEA and AMER.\nThe role operates in a fast-paced, global logistics environment.\nContact Hire Resolve for your next career-changing move.Our client is offering a highly competitive salary for this role based on experience.\nApply for this role today, contact Gaby Turner at Hire Resolve or on LinkedIn.
