Klipspruit New Largo, Mpumalanga\nInternal &External\nRef no: KNL092/26GS\nClosing date: 12 October 2026\nThe role:\nResponsible for putting measures in place for the prevention of falls of ground on the operations in area of responsibility through providing effective input into Rock Engineering designs as well as support systems and layouts for the operations.\nResponsibilities will include but not limited to:\nEnsures effective Rock Engineering service delivery and support to the Mining Operations, Mine Planning, Survey, and Geology sections\nEnsure adherence to organisational best practice and legislative requirements\nActively participate in creating a safe mining environment\nMaintain effective stakeholder relationships\nEnsure successful teamwork and supervision of Rock Engineering resources\nContinuous improvement of the Rock Engineering function\nDevelop quality controls to ensure alignment of operational Rock Engineering interventions, systems, and processes with standardization requirements as well as policies, procedures, and operating standards\nAnalyse and interpret Rock Engineering data and information to identify changes in the production environment, defects and safety risks\nConduct regular inspections and ensure problems are addressed proactively and aligned with Rock Engineering requirements\nEnsure that operating standards, policies, and procedures are appropriate and clearly understood\nEnsure that all activities are performed in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act, and the Minerals Act\nProvide coaching and advice to operational stakeholders related to strata control services and support aligned to best practices\nProvide input into the development of safety standards, processes, policies, and procedures\nProvides guidance to Senior Leadership on technical risk management and relevant mitigating actions\nSupport the Life of Mine Plan process where applicable\nDevelop and maintain the technology roadmap for rock engineering\nIndustry contribution, monitoring and liaison in terms of Strata Control function and statutory requirements, through but not limited to, Mine Professional Associations, ECSA, and Chamber of Mines\nRequirements:\nBSc Degree / Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related science field\nChamber of Mines Certificate in Rock Mechanics\nSANIRE Membership\n5 years’ experience in Rock Engineering within the Coal mining industry\nExperience in Quality Control and Auditing of Rock Engineering systems and services\nIn-depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act and the Minerals and Energy Act.\nGood knowledge of Seriti Safety and Sustainable development policies, procedures and standards\nGood understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to the Mining Industry including the Mine Health Act.\nSound knowledge of Seriti Rock Engineering and Operational policies, procedures, standards and guidelines\nComputer literacy (MS Office, SAP or equivalent)\nValid drivers’ license\nIn possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness\nAdvantageous:\nAdvanced certificate in Rock
