This role ensures secure, resilient, and high-performance connectivity that supports mission-critical retail operations (POS, payments, inventory, WMS), corporate systems, and digital channels. The position serves as the networking SME, escalation point, and technical leader for modernization initiatives such as SD-WAN, Wi-Fi optimization, network segmentation & Zero Trust.\n Requirements\n5 years' experience in Network\nN+\nCisco CCNP (required for most retailers)\nCisco CCIE (highly advantageous)\nRelated Professional certifications advantageous.\nResponsibilities\nNetwork Architecture & Design\nDesign and maintain enterprise network architecture (WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, VPN, cloud networking). \nDevelop network standards, configurations, templates, and documentation.\nEvaluate new technologies.\nParticipate in capacity planning, scalability assessments, and performance engineering.\nImplementation & Deployment\nLead implementation of routers, switches, wireless controllers/access points, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, and edge devices.\nDrive SD-WAN rollout and network modernization across all retail and distribution sites. \nSupport new store buildouts, relocations, and refits; ensure standardized network\nOperations, Troubleshooting & Support\nProvide Level 3 escalation for complex network incidents across WAN, LAN, WLAN, and security layers.\nTroubleshoot store connectivity issues impacting POS, payments, inventory, or back-office systems.\nPerform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent resolutions.\nOptimize network performance and proactively address bottlenecks or degradation.\nNetwork Security & Compliance\nEnsure network compliance with PCI DSS, POPIA, and internal cybersecurity standards.\nMaintain and enhance network visibility and telemetry through tooling\nWays of working (Agile and squad-based)\nPromote consistent engineering practices without becoming a bottleneck\nOperate as part of the Network Tribe while embedding into squads to deliver outcomes\nWork iteratively with transparency, quality focus, and continuous improvement\nKey Performance Indicators\nNetwork uptime and SLA adherence (HO, stores, DCs)\nReduction in P1/P2 network incidents\nMean Time to Resolve (MTTR) for network-related issues\nWi-Fi performance and end-user experience metrics\nStore readiness and network compliance (e.g., POS, PCI DSS)\nSD-WAN rollout progress and performance improvements\nContributes positively to team culture, engagement, and continuous improvement\nSpecial Conditions of Employment:South African citizen\nMIE, clear criminal and credit\nDriver’s license and/or own reliable transport\nRemuneration and benefits:Market related salary\nMedical aid\nProvident fund\nStaff account\nONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.
