The successful candidate will work closely with developers and infrastructure teams to ensure critical database environments remain stable, secure, performant and recoverable.\nKey Responsibilities\nAdminister, configure, maintain, patch and upgrade SQL Server environments.\nMonitor SQL Server health, performance, capacity, availability, jobs, backups and database growth.\nTroubleshoot production incidents including blocking, deadlocks, failed jobs, performance degradation and database issues.\nDesign, maintain and troubleshoot High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.\nManage Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication and Log Shipping.\nDevelop and maintain robust backup, restore and point-in-time recovery strategies.\nPerform regular restore and disaster recovery testing.\nConduct advanced SQL Server performance tuning and query optimisation.\nAssist developers with query tuning, indexing, execution plans, stored procedures and schema refinement.\nManage partitioning strategies for large and high-growth databases.\nImplement and maintain SQL Server security, permissions, encryption, TDE, certificates and key management.\nDevelop T-SQL and PowerShell scripts to automate database administration and monitoring processes.\nPerform capacity planning and monitor database, storage and infrastructure growth.\nSupport Azure SQL and hybrid database environments where required.\nMaintain technical documentation, operational procedures and database standards.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.\nRequirements\n10+ years’ experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration within enterprise or production environments.\nStrong SQL Server performance tuning and optimisation experience.\nAdvanced T-SQL skills, including stored procedures, triggers, indexing and execution plans.\nStrong experience with backups, restores, recovery models and point-in-time recovery.\nExtensive SQL Server HA/DR experience.\nHands-on experience with Always On, Failover Clustering, Replication and Log Shipping.\nStrong knowledge of SQL Server security, permissions, encryption and TDE.\nExperience with certificates, encryption keys and key management.\nExperience with SQL Server partitioning and large databases.\nExperience working with Windows Server and Active Directory dependencies.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.\nAbility to work closely with developers and infrastructure teams.\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a production environment.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAdvantageous Experience\nFinancial services, insurance or another regulated environment.\nAzure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance or SQL Server on Azure VMs.\nVeeam or other enterprise backup platforms.\nPowerShell automation.\nSAN-backed SQL Server platforms.\nVMware-hosted SQL Server environments.\nSQL Server auditing, vulnerability remediation and compliance.\nKnowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL or other database technologies.\nExperience with change, incident and problem management.\nHow To Apply:\nContact Hire Resolve today for your next career-changing move\nOur client is offering a highly competitive salary for this role based on experience.\nSend your CV to:  or connect with Mischa Bornman via LinkedIn.\nAlternatively, you can also contact me directly at Hire Resolve \nWe will contact you telephonically in 3 days should you be suitable for this vacancy.
