The position transforms spatial and field data into accurate maps, reports and actionable insights to support operational and strategic decision-making. The role also provides GIS support to stakeholders, contributes to forecasting and operational planning, and supports the effective and sustainable management of forestry resources.\n\nResponsibilities and Duties\n\nProcess, analyse, and model GIS data to support forestry operations and planning\nCompile, organise, integrate, and maintain spatial data from various sources\nConvert mapping resources into standardised digital formats\nDigitise and validate spatial data from aerial photography and satellite imagery\nPerform spatial analysis and modelling to support operational and strategic decision-making\nEnsure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of spatial datasets through quality assurance and control processes\nManage the storage, version control, and distribution of spatial information\nIdentify data discrepancies and implement corrective actions where required\nProduce high-quality maps and spatial products for operational, management, and client use\nGenerate GIS reports, dashboards, and customised spatial information products\nPresent spatial insights in a clear and user-friendly format\nSupport decision-making through visualisation, reporting, and spatial intelligence solutions\nProvide GIS support and technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders\nRespond to GIS-related queries and information requests\nPromote GIS capabilities and assist in the development and utilisation of GIS products\nProvide guidance and training on GIS outputs and spatial information where required\nCoordinate and support the collection of field data for spatial analysis and validation\nIntegrate field data into GIS systems and databases\nEnsure alignment between field observations and spatial records\nMaintain and monitor timber information and traceability records\nEnsure accurate tracking and reporting of timber from plantation to destination\nSupport compliance with internal procedures, certification requirements, and applicable legislation\nAssist with the recording, validation, and management of data throughout the forestry value chain, including harvesting, transport, processing, and related supply chain activities\nSupport forestry resource planning, forecasting, and operational planning through spatial analysis and data-driven insights\nQualifications and Skills\n\nMatric / Grade 12\nTertiary qualification in GIS, Geography, Forestry, or a related field\nRelevant field experience in spatial data collection, mapping, or GIS-related activities\nProficiency in GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar)\nMinimum 3 years' experience in a relevant environment involving the sourcing, processing, and management of spatial data\nExperience in the forestry, agriculture, or environmental sectors (advantageous)\nExposure to spatial data collection and mapping projects (advantageous)\nSpatial data processing, digitising, and analysis skills\nMap production and cartographic design skills\nData accuracy, validation, and quality control skill\nData management and reporting skills\nStrong problem-solving and analytical abilities\nAbility to work under pressure\nAbility to work independently\nBasic understanding of forestry and/or farming practices (advantageous)\nValid Driver's License (Code 08)\nWillingness to travel\nBilingual (English & Afrikaans) (advantageous)\nTake the next step in your career with TWK Agri, a trusted leader in agriculture and beyond.\n*The company can expire job adverts at any time at their own discretion.\n**TWK Agri supports the principles of Employment Equity and reserves the right to prioritise candidates in line with our Employment Equity targets.\n***Please note that although this position is advertised in Piet Retief and Nelspruit, only one placement will be made.
