This position plays a key role in helping to fulfil the Simplot Company’s purpose of feeding the world.\nKey Responsibilities\nAlways maintains conscientiousness for safety, while driving as well as performing all other duties\nFull compliance with all FMCSA/DOT regulations and other Company policies and procedures as applicable\nHaul and handle products assigned while maintaining efficiency, such as fuel and best hauling and loading practices\nInspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition\nObtains schedule of load times and locations for the day and drives truck to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skills\nMust be able to back up and maneuver in and around tight areas\nMaintains driver log according to DOT regulations\nRegularly inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water\nMakes truck and/or trailer available for scheduled maintenance\nTypical Education\n\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)\n\nRelevant Experience\nMust be at least 21 years of age due to travel requirements\nMust have a commercial driver’s license (Class A), with proper endorsements and a good driving record\nMust be able to obtain and maintain entry eligibility into Canada\nFive years of verifiable over-the-road experience.\nMust have a current/valid DOT Medical Certification\nMust meet DOT qualifications\nMust accurately and timely complete Company and DOT required forms\nReefer trailer experience strongly preferred\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to climb and balance while getting in and out of the truck and while hooking and unhooking lines to and from the trailer. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
