Simplot Devonport has a proud history in the local community, with the site opening in 1942 and employing thousands of Tasmanians. With the ability to process up to 28 tonnes per hour of fresh, locally grown Tasmanian vegetables destined for the frozen vegetable market, these opportunities will contribute to the intake, processing, packing, transport and storage of a range of crops including peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, onions and Brussels sprouts.\nWorking 8-hour shifts across a 7-day roster (including day, afternoon and night shifts), with a focus on safety and quality within a modern, progressive facility, our first intake for the season will commence in late October 2026.\nWith base hourly rates of $41.89 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading), plus shift loadings and overtime, these are excellent opportunities to commence your manufacturing career with a global leader in food production.\nWhat You Will Do\nWorking within our process, packing or logistics areas, Production Operator duties will include (but are not limited to):\nInspection of incoming raw materials\nSafe operation of fixed plant processing and high-speed packaging equipment\nCleaning and sanitising production lines\nAccurately completing daily shift logs and system entries\nForklift operation (for suitably licensed and experienced candidates)\nAdherence to GMP and food safety practices\nContributing to continuous improvement (CI) processes\nWorking within an active manufacturing environment\nFor candidates with demonstrated forklift experience, additional duties may include:\nSafely transporting finished goods between production areas across the site\nUse of fork-mounted RF systems and radio communications\nOperating within our cold store and freezer\nPerforming pre-start checks on forklift equipment\nRefuelling gas-powered forklifts and changing and charging batteries for electric forklifts\nAbout You\nPossess a 100% commitment to workplace safety\nAbility to work a variety of 8-hour day, afternoon and night shifts across a 7-day roster (mandatory, including weekends)\nA current LF Forklift Licence and demonstrated operating experience (mandatory for applicants seeking roles with forklift duties)\nAbility to follow Standard Operating Procedures\nExperience within a manufacturing, processing or mechanically related environment will be advantageous\nHigh attention to detail\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective time management and the ability to work to production schedules\nAbility to work effectively within a team environment\nPositive communication skills\nAbility to undertake in-house aptitude testing as part of the recruitment process\nWillingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment, including urine-based drug and alcohol screening\n\nPlease click the \"Apply\" button to submit your application.
