Our team of talented people are dedicated to our shared mission: to provide solutions that help people design and build safer, stronger structures.\nLearn about our company culture directly from our team.\nYOU\nThe Tool and Die Maker Apprentice supports the New Tooling department’s journeymen and assists them in the construction and testing of progressive dies, machines die components and assists in making product prototypes.\nWHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)\nWorks closely with journeymen Tool & Die Makers and other apprentices in the building of progressive stamping dies. Assists with coordinating material and component orders and deliveries with project leads. (80%)\nReports to shop leads individual daily progress on all machining projects, die tryouts, and new die builds. Coordinates with other team members to accomplish tasks in a timely manner. (10%)\nReceive training, mentorship, and guidance from Journeymen, Leads, and Machinists. Sets a strong example of safe work practices and helps ensure that others are working safely. (10%)\nDESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\nIf you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:\nHigh School diploma or GED certificate is required\nParticipation in Simpson Strong-tie’s Apprenticeship program, and current enrollment in a college-level machine technology program is required\nMinimum of 4 years experience in Tool & Die/Tool room machining. \nMinimum of 4 years experience with precision assembly methods and techniques\nMinimum of 5 years experience stamping manufacturing preferred\nCommunication: Ability to communicate effectively and directly with other team members about project status and challenges. Comfortable engaging with a wide range of personality types and working styles. Asks questions and actively listens to work and skill instructions\nTeam Dynamics: Ability to keep pace with a team in a fast-paced environment that may frequently require pivoting between multiple tasks and adapting to accommodate changing shop priorities.\nKnowledge: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings & blueprints, and an ability to use, create, and interpret 2D AutoCAD drawings\nTRAVEL REQUIRED\nThis position requires domestic up to 0% of the time.\nWORK STATUS & LOCATION\nThis full-time, in the office, non-exempt position is in Stockton, CA.\nRELOCATION\nRelocation is not available for this position.\nPAY\n$22.80 - $31.92 / hour\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT\nThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
