The Role
Our Onboarding team owns how new customers sign up to Sinch and get verified (KYC). It is the very first experience every customer has with us, so it needs to be fast, simple, and secure.
As a Backend Software Engineer III, you will build and run the services behind these sign-up and verification flows. You will join a small Stockholm-based team alongside a Senior full-stack Tech Lead and a full-stack engineer, as we grow a permanent team that takes full ownership of the product. You will work closely with the Tech Lead, Product, and cross-functional teams. This is a hybrid role, working from our Stockholm office.
What You Will Do
- Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Design and work with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
- Develop and deploy microservices on Kubernetes, using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to the distributed systems that power customer sign-up and verification.
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code using sound design patterns.
- Take part in code reviews and pull requests, and help raise code quality across the team.
- Own the features you build from design through to production.
Follow a build-ship-run approach.
What We Are Looking For
- 3-4+ years of backend development experience.
- Experience with Node.js (TypeScript is a plus).
- Experience building REST APIs.
- Good knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience working with distributed systems and microservices.
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfortable with Git, code reviews, and pull requests.
- Good understanding of clean code and basic design patterns.
- Ability to work independently on most tasks.
- Clear communication in English, written and spoken.
Willingness to work hybrid from our Stockholm office.
Nice to have
- Working experience with Java (Spring or Spring Boot).
- Event-driven development experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka.
Experience with a cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
