This role combines strong editorial judgment, advanced video editing, and a deep understanding of digital audience behavior to turn raw footage and scripts into compelling, platform-ready episodes.\nThe Editor partners closely with producers, talent, and the broader production team to deliver accurate, visually engaging content for video, audio, social, and broadcast platforms. The ideal candidate works quickly without sacrificing quality, understands pacing and retention, and brings strong instincts for visual storytelling.\nKey Responsibilities:\nParticipate in content strategy sessions, pitch social-first true-crime ideas, and stay current on relevant cases, creators, trends, and platform updates.\nResearch assigned stories and organize editorial, archival, video, audio, and graphic assets for production.\nEdit scripts, interviews, A-roll, B-roll, and supporting materials into polished Daily Show segments for digital, social, and broadcast platforms.\nShape each episode’s pacing, visual storytelling, sound, graphics, and overall flow to maximize audience engagement and retention.\nCreate motion graphics, lower thirds, full screens, thumbnails, captions, and other branded social assets using Adobe Creative Suite and related tools.\nReview recordings and technical setups; identify, correct, or escalate video, audio, lighting, framing, and other production issues.\nEnsure all content is accurate, properly attributed, visually consistent, and compliant with editorial, legal, and technical standards.\nDeliver clean first cuts, incorporate feedback efficiently, and complete final episodes, time codes, uploads, and other deliverables on deadline.\nMaintain organized project files and archives, and support sponsored, promotional, and other assigned content projects.\nCollaborate closely with producers, talent, and production partners; communicate proactively about creative opportunities, workflow improvements, challenges, and timing.\nWork a flexible schedule, including occasional nights, weekends, and breaking-news coverage; travel up to 10-20% and safely handle production equipment up to 25 pounds.\nQualifications:\n5+ years hands-on experience in all aspects of video production and postproduction including shooting, lighting, sound recording & editing, and ability to operate and troubleshoot all associated equipment\nHighly skilled across Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Premiere Rush, Photoshop, After Effects, etc), and other creative software\nStrong understanding of video editing techniques and storytelling\nDemonstrated experience in motion graphics and creating social media video content\nStrong knowledge of YouTube and its best practices\nProficiency in designing graphics, including thumbnails and infographics\nAn eye for quality content, with an understanding of what plays well across various channels\nThis position requires impeccable spelling and grammar, a deep understanding of social media trends and what works on each platform, vertical video editing skills, and the ability to capture well-composed videos on a phone\nMust be highly motivated, extremely organized, and come to the position with a uniquely creative mind\nFlexibility to travel and work nights and/or weekends, as projects call for\nOnly applicants with portfolios, sites, or reels of their work will be considered\nAbout Criminally Obsessed\nCriminally Obsessed is Sinclair’s true crime media brand, and it is focused on the cases, investigations and stories that capture the public’s attention.
