If you are highly organized, with strong news judgment and attention to detail - the best newsroom in the Nation's Capital may be the place for you!\nResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nGathering information from a variety of sources on breaking news and ongoing stories.\nAssembling that information into concise communications for all users.\nWriting, editing, and posting stories and digitally optimized video on website and social platforms.\nMonitoring and moving of crews in the field to cover events and respond to breaking news.\nPlanning for big events and day-to-day coverage operations.\nWriting compelling headlines and push alerts.\nManaging social media output and homepage updates.\nThe Successful Candidate:\nBachelor’s degree in journalism or similar field preferred.\nThree years of desk and/or digital newsroom experience in commercial TV station.\nCommitment to journalistic standards and ethics.\nStrong communicator.\nAble to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.\nPositive attitude, thrives in a high-energy, collaborative newsroom environment.\nWilling and able to work nights, weekends and holidays.\nStrong copy-editing skills.\nAbility to develop and maintain contacts.\nFamiliarity with iNews, Adobe Suite, Capsule, Tagboard, Streamyard and Storyline CMS a plus.\nThe hourly compensation range for this role is $26.92 to $31.73. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
