Singtel is Singapore's largest telecommunications group and traces its origins to a colonial telegraph service established in 1879. It operates mobile and fixed networks in Singapore and holds major stakes in operators across Asia including Optus and Bharti Airtel. The group also runs NCS, data centres and regional cybersecurity businesses.

Every day, millions of Australians connect, work, stream, and stay in touch on the Optus network. When it works seamlessly, it’s easy to take for granted. But behind it is a team making thousands of decisions every day - decisions that keep people, businesses and communities connected.

Right now, Optus is focused on getting the fundamentals right - simplifying how we work, lifting standards, and building a more reliable, resilient experience for our customers.

It’s not about surface-level change. It’s about how we make decisions, how we work together, and how we deliver.

As the Associate Director, Internal Audit - Transformation & Change, you will provide independent, risk-based assurance across Optus’ strategic transformation initiatives, major programs and enterprise-wide change activities. You will lead complex audits and assurance reviews that assess governance, risk management, delivery effectiveness and benefits realisation, helping ensure transformation investments deliver sustainable business value. Combining strategic thinking with practical delivery experience, you will partner with senior stakeholders to identify emerging risks, strengthen controls and improve customer, employee and business outcomes while maintaining Internal Audit's independence and objectivity.

The Day to Day

  • Lead complex transformation, change and programme assurance reviews, providing independent assessment of governance, risk management, controls, delivery execution and benefits realisation.
  • Evaluate major transformation initiatives, including technology programs, operating model changes, regulatory projects and strategic investments, identifying emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build trusted relationships with executives, programme sponsors, transformation leaders and governance stakeholders, providing objective challenge and commercially-focused assurance insights.
  • Deliver high-quality audit outcomes through effective planning, resource management, data analytics, continuous monitoring and evidence-based reporting to the Audit Committee and senior leadership.
  • Lead, coach and develop audit professionals while driving continuous improvement across Internal Audit methodologies, practices and transformation assurance capabilities.

What You Bring

  • Significant experience in Internal Audit, Risk, Assurance, Consulting or a related discipline, with proven expertise assessing large-scale transformation, technology, operating model and business change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of programme governance, portfolio management, risk management, internal controls, organisational change management and benefits realisation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues, synthesise large volumes of information and provide clear, actionable recommendations to senior executives and governance forums.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with experience challenging constructively and building credibility across executive and operational leadership teams.
  • Experience gained within a Big 4 consulting firm (Deloitte, PwC, EY or KPMG) in Transformation Assurance, Risk Advisory, Internal Audit, Program Assurance or Management Consulting will be highly regarded.

The good stuff

  • Competitive remuneration and colleague discounts. Make life easier (and more affordable) with $80 monthly credit and 25% off Optus products and outstanding shopping discounts with our retail partners.
  • Flexible working arrangements with opportunities to work three days in the office, two days remote or home.
  • Vibrant and collaborative office campus that includes cafes, convenience store, chill out zones, GP, post office, gym, and on-site childcare centre.
  • Competitive leave policies, including additional 'Connected’ days to focus on culture, family, health, community, or whatever’s important to you.
  • We support growing families with inclusive, carer-neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks.
  • Build meaningful connections through colleague-led networks and diversity initiatives including Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network, and Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+).
  • Put your wellbeing first with free access to counselling and support services, 24/7 - in-person, by phone, SMS, or video.
  • Free Optus bus from Macquarie University Metro Station (every 6-8 minutes); morning and afternoon. Join us for an outstanding career opportunity!

Not every box ticked? Apply anyway. We believe the right mindset matter more than a perfect CV. We’ll back you to grow from there.

At Optus, we are strengthened by others and that means valuing diversity and saying ‘yes’ to embracing individual differences. We are committed to ensuring that our application process provides an equal employment opportunity to all job seekers, including individuals from diverse gender, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, individuals with a disability, individuals identifying as being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals who may have served in the armed forces or who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
