The role is responsible for designing, building and delivering software development infrastructure that supports internal tools and platform development. Working closely with engineering and technology teams, the Senior DevOps Engineer will enable reliable and automated application and infrastructure deployment while ensuring alignment with organisational IT, security, architecture and engineering standards.\nThe successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teams with different levels of technical experience. They will contribute to the adoption of DevOps best practices, cloud architecture strategies and engineering standards while supporting the continued evolution of cloud and automation capabilities.\nKey Responsibilities\nArchitect, implement and automate CI/CD pipelines across development, staging and production environments.\nDevelop and maintain DevOps engineering standards and best practices.\nIdentify opportunities to improve deployment consistency, reliability and automation.\nDesign and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and automated application deployments.\nDevelop tools and scripts to automate deployment and operational processes.\nGuide project teams toward solutions aligned with agreed architecture, security, engineering principles and standards.\nProvide technical guidance to teams on application and infrastructure automation.\nMentor engineers and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.\nIntegrate appropriate security controls and testing into DevOps processes.\nDrive continuous improvements in application design, development and delivery.\nImprove system reliability and recovery through monitoring, alerting, automation and self-healing capabilities.\nPromote an automation-first engineering approach.\nApply agile practices to support consistent and transparent delivery.\nManage and maintain DevOps pipelines and collaborate with development teams on integrated delivery pipelines.\nLead technology evaluations and implementations to address gaps in software build, testing, deployment and scalability capabilities.\nDevelop and implement governance processes and tools to support compliance with applicable technology standards and policies.\nRequirements\nRelevant experience in Information Technology, including significant hands-on experience with DevOps engineering for complex systems.\nDemonstrated experience designing, implementing and operating CI/CD and infrastructure automation solutions.\nStrong hands-on experience with Linux operating systems such as Ubuntu.\nStrong practical experience with Kubernetes and containerised environments.\nExperience with at least one major public cloud platform, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.\nStrong understanding of networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, DNS, load balancing and network protocols.\nHands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or comparable technologies.\nExperience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.\nExperience building and maintaining CI/CD solutions using technologies such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins or comparable tools.\nExperience with configuration-management technologies such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet or comparable tools.\nStrong troubleshooting and debugging skills in complex distributed computing environments.\nProficiency with Git and experience using collaboration and work-management platforms such as Jira and Confluence.\nExperience working with APIs, command-line interfaces and SDKs.\nExperience with API gateway technologies such as NGINX, Apigee or comparable platforms.\nStrong scripting capability using technologies such as Shell and Python.\nExperience with logging, monitoring and tracing platforms such as Azure Monitor, Amazon CloudWatch, Zabbix, Elasticsearch/Kibana, Prometheus/Grafana, New Relic, Datadog or Dynatrace.\nUnderstanding of SQL and NoSQL database technologies, such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL.\nPreferred Skills\nExperience with one or more of the following would be advantageous:\nEvent-streaming technologies such as Kafka.\nService-mesh technologies such as Istio or Envoy.\nREST APIs and GraphQL.\nMicroservices architecture.\nSecrets-management technologies such as Vault.\nService-discovery and distributed-coordination technologies such as Consul, ZooKeeper or etcd.\nRelevant
