This role sits at the intersection of guidance/navigation, computer vision, and real-time software engineering.\nYou will develop robust target tracking and estimation pipelines that operate under challenging real-world conditions including noisy measurements, intermittent detections, high dynamics, latency, dropped frames, and constrained compute environments. The ideal candidate has strong fundamentals in estimation theory and probabilistic systems, while also understanding the realities of interfacing with modern computer vision stacks running on embedded GPU platforms.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and implement real-time tracking and state estimation algorithms for airborne and autonomous systems\nDevelop and maintain multi-target tracking pipelines using camera, IMU, and additional sensor inputs\nImplement filtering and sensor fusion algorithms including:\n- Extended Kalman Filters (EKF)\n- Unscented Kalman Filters (UKF)\n- Particle Filters\n- IMM / Multiple-Model Estimators\n- Smoothing and probabilistic estimation methods\nBuild robust track management systems including:\n- Track initiation and deletion\n- Measurement gating\n- Data association\n- Covariance management\n- Occlusion handling\n- Track confidence scoring\nInterface tracking systems with modern computer vision pipelines and detectors\nIntegrate asynchronous measurements from heterogeneous sensors with differing latencies and update rates\nOptimize algorithms for embedded compute platforms including NVIDIA Jetson-class hardware\nDevelop low-latency real-time software in C++ for deployment in operational environments\nWork closely with guidance, autonomy, perception, and controls engineers\nBuild simulation and replay environments for estimator validation and performance analysis\nAnalyze estimator stability, observability, and numerical robustness under degraded conditions\nRequired Qualifications\nBS/MS in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field\nStrong experience with state estimation, tracking, or sensor fusion systems\nStrong C++ software engineering experience\nExperience implementing real-time systems on Linux\nSolid understanding of:\n- Linear algebra\n- Probability and statistics\n- Coordinate frames and transformations\n- Kinematics and dynamics\n- Numerical methods\nExperience with one or more of the following:\n- Multi-object tracking\n- Visual-inertial estimation\n- SLAM\n- Radar tracking\n- EO/IR tracking systems\n- Guidance and navigation systems\nFamiliarity with computer vision pipelines and detector outputs\nExperience consuming outputs from CV frameworks such as:\n- TensorRT\n- DeepStream\n- OpenCV\n- PyTorch/TensorRT inference pipelines\nExperience debugging noisy real-world sensor systems\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with embedded GPU platforms (Jetson Xavier, Orin, CUDA)\nFamiliarity with EO/IR sensor systems\nExperience with asynchronous sensor timing and synchronization\nExperience building high-rate telemetry or distributed real-time systems\nUnderstanding of:\n- Bayesian filtering\n- Multi-hypothesis tracking\n- JPDA/MHT approaches\n- Optical flow\n- Visual odometry\nFamiliarity with ROS2, GStreamer, or DeepStream pipelines\nExperience with hardware interfaces such as:\n- CAN\n- UART/RS232\n- Ethernet UDP/TCP\n- MIPI CSI-2\nExperience with simulation environments and hardware-in-the-loop testing\nPrior aerospace, defense, or autonomous systems experience\nWhat You’ll Work On\nReal-time target tracking systems operating on embedded edge hardware\nHigh-rate fusion of EO/IR detections with inertial navigation systems\nLow-latency estimator pipelines for autonomous guidance applications\nRobust tracking systems resilient to clutter, dropped detections, and degraded sensing environments\nTight integration between perception, estimation, and control subsystems\nIdeal Candidate\nYou are someone who enjoys bridging theory and deployment reality.
