This person will directly own key parts of the system, with a wide scope to have an impact. You will work closely with the production teams to create systems that are elegant to use, but also manufacturable at scale.\nResponsibilities\nLead mechanical designs for defined subsystems of medical and diagnostic devices, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability\nDesign and review parts and assemblies optimized for high-volume injection molding and automated assembly methods\nApply rapid prototyping techniques to accelerate product development and iteration, with minimal guidance\nPlan and execute engineering tests to validate designs and improve performance\nCreate and review detailed design specifications, including 3D and 2D MCAD models following ASME Y14.5 or ISO 8015 standards\nClosely collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing engineers and scientists, often owning the mechanical side of complex technical challenges\nLead root cause analysis and drive design or process changes to enhance product quality and performance\nOwn system design, system and sub-system requirements and verification plans for your subsystems\nMentor Mechanical Design Engineers on MCAD practices, DFM/DFA, and design-verification approach\nReview other engineers' designs and drawings for manufacturability and compliance with design standards\nTake a leading role in supplier and vendor conversations for the components/subsystems you own\nWhat we’re looking for\nDeep knowledge of the challenges of scaling products from prototype to high volume production\nReal experience working with pilot and full volume production systems, implementing quality controls and maximizing the product’s quality and yield\nExcellent knowledge of injection molding design, including tolerance studies\nExcellent knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques, including ultrasonic welding, laser welding, clip design and adhesives\nCreative problem solver\nExpert MCAD user\nNice to have\nDemonstrated ability to design mechanical mechanisms, from concepting through to volume production\nExperience in medical devices, or with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, or other design controls process\nExperience working at a manufacturing site, as a process, test or tool engineer\nOptics, photonics, fluidics, or microfluidics exposure\nExperience in SolidWorks and OnShape\nEmployment Details\nDepartment: Product Engineering\nWork location: Burlington, MA (on-site), with some travel to manufacturing sites in the US, Europe and Asia.
