Here, we feel empowered, supported, and inspired to grow.\nAre you ready to love your job?\nThe adventure begins right here, with you, at SITA.\nRole Summary\nThe DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, on-premise infrastructure, automation frameworks, and monitoring solutions to enable reliable, secure, and scalable software delivery within a security-cleared, government-compliant environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.\nAutomate provisioning and configuration of on-premise infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).\nManage and maintain on-premise data centre and virtualised environments (e.g. VMware, bare-metal servers, private/internal networks).\nAdminister on-premise container and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/K3s).\nImplement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.\nImprove system reliability, availability, and performance.\nCollaborate with development, QA, security, and operations teams.\nEnforce security, compliance, and DevSecOps practices in line with the ISM (Information Security Manual) and Essential Eight controls.\nTroubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.\nDrive continuous improvement of deployment and operational processes.\nEnsure all work adheres to government security policies, data sovereignty, and handling requirements for classified material.\nQualifications\nEligibility Requirements\n Must be an Australian Citizen (mandatory - no exceptions, as this role requires Australian Government security clearance).\nMust hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, a current Australian Government Security Clearance (Baseline as specified by the engagement).\nWillingness to undergo and pass background, character, and security vetting through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).\nRequired Skills\nStrong Linux/Unix administration.\nCI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).\nInfrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).\nOn-premise virtualisation and infrastructure (VMware/vSphere, Hyper-V, bare-metal server management).\nDocker and Kubernetes (including on-premise distributions such as K3s, OpenShift, or Rancher).\nScripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).\nMonitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic Stack, Nagios/Zabbix).\nGit and source control management.\nNetworking and security fundamentals (firewalls, load balancers, VLANs, DNS).\nStorage and backup management (SAN/NAS, local storage solutions).\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.\n5+ years of DevOps/SRE experience.\nKubernetes, Terraform, Red Hat (RHCE/RHCSA), or VMware certifications.\nExperience with Agile/Scrum environments.\nPrior experience working within Australian Government, Defence, or other security-cleared environments.\nFamiliarity with the ASD Essential Eight, ISM, and PSPF (Protective Security Policy Framework).\nSuccess Metrics\nDeployment frequency.\nChange failure rate.\nMean time to recovery (MTTR).\nInfrastructure reliability and uptime.\nAutomation coverage.\nWHAT WE OFFER\nWe're all about diversity.
