As we grow, every person who joins us relies on People Operations getting the fundamentals right, from being paid correctly to being set up well on day one.\nIn this role you'll own the employee lifecycle end-to-end. From someone's first day to their last, you'll run the payroll, systems and programs that shape their experience at Sitemate, including onboarding, performance and engagement cycles, compensation reviews and offboarding. You'll have genuine ownership and a mandate to rebuild what isn't working, using AI and automation so a lean team can support a much bigger company.\nEmployment:\nSalary: AU$80,000 - AU$120,000 (excl. Super)\n\nDay-to-Day\nOwn payroll end-to-end across four entities\n\nManage payroll cut-offs, process starters, leavers and role changes\n\nAnswer payroll questions from managers and employees and fix issues before the next run\n\nRun & own onboarding for every new starter: source & provision laptops and equipment, ensure day-one access is complete\n\nRun offboarding, including equipment recovery, access removal and final pay\n\nKeep performance cycles, engagement surveys, compensation reviews and levelling calibrations on schedule\n\nLook after HRIS data quality and reporting\n\nDocument our processes so they don't rely on any one person\n\nFind recurring manual tasks and automate them\n\nMaintain and update HR policies across all regions\n\nCoordinate onsites and People programs\n\nChallenges\nPayroll runs across four entities with different cycles, compliance requirements and systems\n\nEvery error in payroll creates immediate financial and trust issues with employees\n\nOnboarding and offboarding happen weekly with zero room for delays or missing steps\n\nPeople programs have been run manually or inconsistently and need to be systematised\n\nThe function needs to scale without adding headcount, which means automating aggressively\n\nKeeping payroll deadlines, program cycles and improvement projects all moving when they land in the same week\n\nWho This Role is For\nPeople who like making things run smoothly and predictably\n\nPeople who spot manual work and want to automate it\n\nPeople who are comfortable building process where there isn't one yet\n\nPeople who want to own the employee lifecycle end to end\n\nWho This Role is Not For\nPeople looking for an HR business partner or strategy role\n\nPeople who prefer working within established processes\n\nPeople who would rather focus mainly on culture or employee experience programs\n\nPeople who want to work in a single country with simple compliance\n\nSkills & Tools\nMust Have:\nHands-on experience with HRIS and payroll platforms\n\nA solid understanding of employment compliance in more than one jurisdiction\n\nA track record of building and documenting processes that scale\n\nStrong attention to detail, especially where pay and compliance are involved\n\nConfidence working with Finance on reconciliations\n\nClear written communication and good judgement on when to escalate\n\nAbility to manage competing deadlines without dropping the details\n\nNice to Have:\nExperience in a high-growth tech company or scale-up\n\nHands-on use of AI or automation tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Zapier or Make\n\nExperience with BambooHR, Rippling, Deel or similar\n\nExposure to construction, field services or distributed workforces\n\nExperience managing People systems vendors\n\nExperience supporting managers through performance management and employee relations processes\n\nExperience administering statutory and extended leave, including payroll impacts\n\nExperience with Rippling or a similar global HRIS\n\nEssential Tools:\nHRIS platforms\n\nPayroll systems across multiple countries\n\nGoogle Workspace or Microsoft 365\n\nAtlassian\n\nSlack\n\nSpreadsheet tools for reconciliation and reporting\n\nDocumentation and knowledge management tools\n\nBonus Tools:\nBambooHR, Rippling, Deel or similar global HRIS platforms\n\nAI automation tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Zapier or Make\n\nProject management tools like Asana, Monday or ClickUp\n\nAirtable\n\nEOR platforms such as Remote or Deel\n\nSurvey and engagement platforms\n\nIT asset management systems\n\nAbout Sitemate:\nSitemate builds best-in-class software and AI agents for the built world, helping construction, infrastructure and industrial companies work smarter and faster.
