This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on complex building, infrastructure and temporary works projects across the UK and internationally, collaborating with leading structural, civil and construction engineering professionals.\nRobert Bird Group is recognised for delivering innovative engineering solutions on some of the UK's most challenging projects. We have a strong record of delivering award-winning projects, including:\n21 Moorfields, London - Winner of the Structural Steel Design Awards 2025 and Ground Engineering Awards 2019.\n\nSpire London - Winner of the Ground Engineering Awards 2018 for excellence in geotechnical engineering and project delivery.\n\nAs a Design Engineer, you will be involved in the design, analysis and delivery of geotechnical solutions from concept through to construction, while developing your technical expertise and progressing towards Chartership.\nDuties\nUndertake geotechnical design and analysis for:Retaining walls\nDeep foundations\nShallow foundations\nEarth retention systems\nGround improvement solutions\n\nPrepare engineering calculations, reports and technical specifications.\nPerform design checking and technical reviews.\nUndertake ground movement assessments and monitoring reviews.\nAssist in the design, procurement, interpretation and management of ground investigations.\nConduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction.\nLiaise with clients, contractors, consultants and project stakeholders.\nCoordinate with structural and civil engineering teams on multidisciplinary projects.\nAssist with project planning, programming and resource coordination.\nMonitor project costs and support commercial management of projects.\nAssist with fee proposals, fee variations and project invoicing.\nSupport and mentor graduate engineers and junior team members.\nImplement and maintain quality assurance procedures.\nPromote Robert Bird Group's services and maintain strong client relationships.\nComply with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.\nWhat We Are Looking For\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.\nApproximately 3+ years' experience in geotechnical engineering design and analysis.\nExperience working on building, infrastructure or temporary works projects.\nStrong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.\nKnowledge of UK design standards and Eurocodes.\nWorking towards Chartership (ICE, Geological Society or equivalent preferred).\nExperience with geotechnical design software and engineering analysis tools.\nStrong attention to detail, commercial awareness and commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.\nEagerness to learn, develop professionally and contribute to a collaborative team environment.\nWhat we offer you:\nRBG is a growing, fast-paced business which offers birthday leave, corporate health insurance rates, paid parental leave, recognition awards, an active and engaging social club, along with a supportive team environment where healthy lifestyle balance is encouraged.\nReasonable Adjustments\nWe are committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all candidates.
