The role will be responsible for the primary engineering and design of HV/EHV substations, ensuring compliance with applicable international standards, client specifications, and project requirements.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop primary substation designs for HV/EHV substations, including AIS/GIS systems and associated equipment.\nPrepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, equipment layouts, sections and elevations.\nDevelop substation layouts considering electrical clearances, equipment arrangement, access, maintainability and constructability.\nPrepare equipment specifications and data sheets for transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, VTs/CVTs, surge arresters, busbars and other primary equipment.\nUndertake busbar and equipment sizing, electrical clearances and related primary design calculations.\nCoordinate with Protection & Control, Civil/Structural, Secondary, SCADA and other engineering disciplines.\nReview vendor drawings, technical submissions and engineering documents for compliance with project requirements.\nSupport preparation of technical specifications, material requisitions, design reports and engineering schedules.\nParticipate in design reviews, technical meetings and client discussions.\nEnsure engineering deliverables are completed within agreed quality, schedule and budget requirements.\nProvide technical support during construction, commissioning and resolution of site queries where required.\nEnsure designs comply with relevant IEC/BS/IEEE standards, client specifications and utility requirements.\nRequired Technical Skills\nStrong experience in HV/EHV substation primary engineering and design.\nExperience with AIS and/or GIS substations, preferably in the 132kV, 220kV, 400kV or higher voltage range.\nGood knowledge of substation primary equipment and electrical clearances.\nExperience in developing and reviewing SLDs, GAs, layouts, sections and equipment arrangements.\nUnderstanding of earthing, lightning protection, busbar arrangements and substation clearances.\nKnowledge of relevant IEC/IEEE/BS standards and international utility practices.\nExperience working on international projects, preferably Middle East/KSA projects, will be an advantage.\nProficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of relevant electrical engineering/design software is desirable.\nGood coordination and communication skills with multidisciplinary and international teams.\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.\n8-15 years of relevant experience in substation primary engineering/design.\nExperience with engineering consultants, EPC organisations, utilities or power-sector organisations preferred.\nCandidates with experience in Saudi Arabia / GCC utility projects will be preferred.\nKey Competencies\nPrimary Substation Engineering\nHV/EHV Substation Design\nAIS/GIS\nPrimary Equipment Selection\nSLD & GA Development\nElectrical Clearances\nTechnical Documentation\nMultidisciplinary Coordination\nClient & Vendor Coordination\nInternational Project Delivery\nAt Surbana Jurong, we put talent, hard work, teamwork and a fun workplace together to approach problems and solve them creatively and collaboratively.
