They bring the Library out into the community! Under the direct supervision of the Community Engagement Assistant Manager, and with an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Outreach Coordinator will:\nIdentify and schedule opportunities for library outreach at community-wide festivals and outreach events. Attend community outreach events and meetings to promote the Library. Create a fun and engaging environment and convey the Library’s mission and purpose. Plan and prepare interactive activities for outreach events. \nFoster positive relationships in the community by collaborating with local organizations and maintaining connections with partners.\nTransport, set up and tear down displays and other outreach equipment. Order promotional giveaways. Maintain and clean display equipment and materials. Field and fulfill requests for outreach materials.\nMaintain an outreach schedule with details about location and staffing. Schedule in internal scheduling software. Coordinate alternative staffing for outreach events. Evaluate outreach success. Track metrics for outreach event attendance.\nIdentify key audiences, partners, and neighborhoods for outreach with special emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Assist with developing systemwide outreach strategies. \nAssist with system wide training to staff on successful outreach measures. \nStay informed about events and outreach opportunities in the community. Support special projects with established community partners.\nLead and/or participate in staff committees. Collaborate with public service staff to plan and develop outreach efforts.\nOperate and maintain mobile library collection and equipment, including Dream Machine book hauler, Book Bike, and LibCabinet.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university. \nAt least 1 year experience working with the public and/or experience in public libraries.\nRequirements:\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.\nPublic service orientation and commitment to excellent and genuine customer service. \nDemonstration of character and integrity in all situations while upholding SJCPL’s ethical standards. \nExperience working with and proficiency with computers, including Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Windows and Mac OS and communication technologies. \nKnowledge of library materials and services appropriate for a variety of patrons in relevant age group.\nPhysical ability and strength to bend, reach, lift, and move up to 50lbs., to stand for long periods of time, and ride a bicycle.\nValid Drivers License in good standing and willingness to drive a Transit van.\nFriendly, outgoing, and comfortable with public speaking.\nSpanish language skills preferred. \nAbility to:\nPlan, prioritize and delegate. Make decisions and work independently and interdependently.\nAccept and manage change. Maintain composure and overcome stress in any situation.\nIdentify efficiencies and implement improvements in workflow. \nDisplay high standards of ethical conduct, honesty, and integrity.
