Engineering intern positions offer a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, testing, project management and system integrity. Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of the engineering department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the SJG community and with fellow interns.As part of the comprehensive internship program, interns will participate in events that help them build a strong network within the SJI community and with fellow interns. Interns enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work environment throughout this 11-week summer program. The Ignite Internship Program also offers participants mentorship, educational seminars, volunteer opportunities, and visibility within the organization.\nEssential Functions:\nProvide support to the department Manager and Engineers to assist in the execution of larger project responsibilities.\n\nPerform calculations, analyses, and research on upcoming department projects.\n\nPerform basic engineering design modifications in AutoCAD.\n\nAssist the department in the drafting, finalizing, and implementation of new technical reports and process improvement recommendations.\n\nPrepare and collaborate on a cross-functional project which the applicant will present to the SJI Executive Leadership Team.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Background:\nHigh School Diploma or GED\nTypically requires less than 1 year of related experience\nPursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, with a graduation date of Fall 2028 or later\nThe ideal candidate would be a rising Junior or Senior, however, all students are welcome for consideration\nRequired Skills:\nStrong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills\nDetail-oriented with strong time-management skills\nProficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)\nAbility to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment\nPreferred Skills:\nAutoCAD experience\nExplore the Possibilities\nSouth Jersey Industries employs a diverse range of talent - from construction contractors to environmental specialists.
