This position will be based in our White Plains office(remote) and the shift is Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST. The Network Operator supports and maintains the Firm’s production infrastructure that operates 24x7x365 to ensure maximum availability and performance of all services. Working as a team takes ownership of the production infrastructure including, WAN, LAN, administration, analysis, installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation.\nAlthough this position is primarily remote, employees must live within commuting distance of the White Plains office.\nResponsibilities\nLeads and participates in proactive service management and incident response to eliminate and mitigate operational issues that impact end-users.\nMonitors the health, performance and availability of computer systems using diversified tools.\nTroubleshoots and resolves malfunctioning hardware, software, and environmental alerts.\nPerforms Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and escalates to the team for remediation.\nWorks collaboratively to resolve problems within the team and as necessary escalates to internal and external engineering resources.\nWorks proactively to triage or troubleshoot alerts, events and issues that impact the Firm’s production IT Infrastructure.\nFollows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for scheduled tasks.\nCoordinates with third-party vendors, satellite office contacts, or other IT teams for holistic problem solving and communication.\nResponds to incidents and carefully tracks and documents all defects and resolutions in detail.\nAssists with helping to increase the expert knowledge base of NOC and maintenance of system’s health record.\nWorks within the Firm’s ticketing system and is accountable for updating, tracking, and resolving incidents.\nEscalates to management all technical issues that are service impacting and requires an immediate response or troubleshooting. Coordinates engineering resources (other IT resources, 3rd party or vendors, etc.) to collaboratively work to resolve the issue as soon as possible.\nMaintains communication channels within intra teams or outside so that all stakeholders are kept informed ahead in time bound manner.\nDemonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.\nManages Firm resources responsibly.\nComplies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nDemonstrates hands-on expertise Maintaining and Supporting Windows Services in a Virtualized Environment, including Microsoft Applications (Exchange, SharePoint, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, File Permissions, and Security\nDemonstrates practical experience with TCP/IP networking\nSignificant hands-on experience administrating and troubleshooting VMware Clusters in a high-availability environment, including Windows & Linux guest operating systems\nSignificant experience with and expertise in network monitoring, event detection, analysis, and incident response\nSignificant hands-on experience with and expertise with Cisco Switching and Routing\nStrong knowledge of networking concepts including; DNS, switching, routing and firewalls\nDemonstrates strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving and customer service skills\nAbility to manage critical situations, and maintain solid relationships with Firm’s business services professionals\nAbility to anticipate problems, communicate them, and resolve if appropriate\nAbility to take ownership of issues and responsibility for customer satisfaction and overall success of services provide\nDemonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing\nDemonstrates close attention to detail\nAbility to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities\nAbility to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality\nAbility to organize and prioritize work\nAbility to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment\nAbility to work well independently as well as effectively within a team\nFlexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or three years of relevant experience or Military Occupational Specialty\nMinimum of five years of related experience\nCulture & Life at Skadden\nWhat makes Skadden special is our people and the culture, community and spirit of collaboration we have created.
