This position will be based in our Palo Alto or Los Angeles office (hybrid). The Client Accounting Coordinator provides client accounting analysis, billing and collection support to partners. Coordinates client accounting activity for assigned partners and practice areas to meet service guidelines. Works closely with Client Accounting Supervisor.\nHandles complex billing and client analysis projects.\nManages assigned Partner(s) INV (Unbilled and AR) balances.\nReviews outstanding INV reports and is proactive to prevent stale or uncollectable INV.\nUnderstands and responds to inquiries and requests made by clients, attorneys and support staff.\nProvides relevant knowledge and support to others in the Firm.\nAbility to formulate strong work team relationships both internally and externally.\nPrepares bills and internal forms including appropriate back-up required to process A/R write-offs, retainer and on-account applications, etc.\nDocuments meetings/discussions with partners for actions and/or later follow-up.\nActively seeks to enhance knowledge of all Client Accounting procedures and processes.\nMaintains complete and up-to-date profiles for each partner and/or client.\nUpdates and maintains task list for billing, collections, accruals, action items and responses.\nDemonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.\nManages Firm resources responsibly.\nRegular and reliable physical presence to work as part of a team.\nComplies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nKnowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Aderant, StarCollect, TheSlate, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems\nAbility to work and develop skills independently\nDeals courteously and effectively with others\nExcellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities\nAbility to meet deadlines\nDemonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing\nDemonstrates close attention to detail\nAbility to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities\nAbility to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality\nAbility to organize and prioritize work\nAbility to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment\nAbility to work well independently as well as effectively within a team\nFlexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree\nMinimum one year billing and collection experience with some account analysis related functions\nCulture & Life at Skadden\nWhat makes Skadden special is our people and the culture, community and spirit of collaboration we have created.
