Skanska is the delivery partner for the ‘Kent Roads’ portion of the project, which connects the southern part of the A2/M2 route to the tunnel approach. It includes the construction of Europe’s widest green bridge, 6km of new road and structures a new public park and 12 miles of new and improved pathways for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.\nTo support this landmark project Skanska is assembling an Environmental Sustainability team and is seeking an Assistant Environmental Sustainability Manager. This role will support the Environmental Sustainability Manager in achieving the project’s environmental objectives and ambitions.\nAs the Assistant Environmental Manager, you will:\nCommunicate Development Consent Order (DCO) environmental requirements to teams and perform compliance inspections.\nWorkwith the statutory environmental bodies / consultees.\nProvide environmental training to staff.\nProduce environmental management plans required for the project and ensure they are reviewed and approved by the client, relevant stakeholders and the Secretary of State.\nDevelop, maintain, implement and coordinate the review of all Environmental Management System (EMS) documentation at project/contract level.\nIdentify key environmental risk, opportunities and KPIs.\nProvide advice and guidance on legal consents, licences and exemptions, while identifying sustainability innovations, cost-saving opportunities and best-practice initiatives.\nWe are looking for:\nDegree level in appropriate Environmental or relevant discipline or equivalent (e.g. NVQ).\nExperience of the Development Consent Order process.\nAnalytical skills with attention to detail to identify environmental risks and mitigation measures.\nExtensive construction industry experience or relevant environmental experience in a similar sector.\nMinimum Practitioner Membership with IEMA or similar professional membership.\nWhat we offer:\n24/7 digital GP service for you and your family \nFinancial wellbeing and employee assistance \nProfessional development \nEnhanced family benefits (including maternity, paternity, dependants and parental bereavement leave) \nInclusion and Diversity\nWe thrive through embracing differences as we know that diversity opens a rich potential for new ways of thinking, helping us to build successful and high-performing teams.
