The position is responsible for Customer-return investigations, Failure analysis, Internal non-conformance management, Material Review Board (MRB) activities, First-pass-yield improvement, Production quality support, and corrective-action implementation.\nThe successful candidate will combine hands-on electrical troubleshooting, structured problem-solving, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturing performance.\nKey Responsibilities:\nFailure Analysis and Testing\nTest customer-returned and internally non-conforming products using approved processes, specifications, equipment, and acceptance criteria.\nInvestigate customer-reported failures and determine root causes at the system, assembly, circuit, or component level, as applicable.\nAnalyze electrical schematics, PCB layouts, test results, and analog or digital signals to identify potential failure mechanisms.\nClassify failure symptoms, failure modes, and root causes to support statistical analysis, trend identification, and recurrence prevention.\nDifferentiate between isolated and systemic issues and escalate recurring or high-risk concerns.\nMaintain appropriate product identification, handling, and traceability during investigations.\nInternal Quality and Production Support\nInvestigate electrical and electronic non-conformances identified during incoming inspection, assembly, testing, final inspection, or customer-return analysis.\nSupport NCR preparation, investigation, disposition, implementation, and closure.\nProvide technical recommendations for MRB decisions, including rework, repair, return to supplier, use-as-is, or scrap.\nProvide hands-on troubleshooting and quality support to Production and Engineering teams.\nEstablish containment actions while investigations and permanent corrective actions are in progress.\nAnalyze first-pass yield, production test failures, rework, scrap, and recurring defects.\nSupport validation of new or modified electrical test methods, fixtures, equipment, and processes.\nProvide quality input for component substitutions, deviations, concessions, process changes, and engineering changes.\nDocumentation and Reporting\nPrepare clear and accurate technical reports containing product information, test conditions, results, analysis, root causes, and corrective actions.\nDevelop Pareto charts and analytical reports covering failure modes, investigation ageing, troubleshooting time, recurrence, and repair costs.\nProvide data for quality KPIs, scorecards, first-pass-yield reporting, Cost of Non-Quality, and monthly management reports.\nCreate and maintain quality procedures, test instructions, troubleshooting guides, and work instructions.\nMaintain accurate and traceable records in accordance with applicable quality and document-control requirements.\nCommunicate technical findings clearly to internal teams, customers, and suppliers.\nQuality and Process Improvement\nSupport root-cause investigations and corrective actions, including containment, implementation, follow-up, and effectiveness verification.\nApply structured problem-solving methods such as the seven basic quality tools, 5-Why, fishbone analysis, Pareto analysis, and 8D.\nCollaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Service, and suppliers to resolve quality issues.\nIdentify recurring issues and recommend improvements to product designs, components, processes, test methods, work instructions, and training.\nConduct or support product and process risk assessments and recommend appropriate mitigation actions.\nSupport continuous-improvement initiatives that improve product quality, reliability, first-pass yield, and Cost of Non-Quality.\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.\n3+ years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Product Support Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nCandidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings. \nStrong technical communication and reporting skills.\nAbility to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements and resolve technical issues.\nWorking knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies such as 7QC tools, 5-Why, and 8D.\nKnowledge of ISO 9001 and IPC standards is considered an asset.\nHands-on experience using laboratory equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, hi-pot testers, LCR meters, and similar test equipment.\nBasic understanding of embedded firmware behaviour and its interaction with electrical hardware. \nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Measurement System Analysis, FMEA, or other quality-improvement tools is considered an asset.\nPreferred:\nCurrent registration with APEGA as a P.Eng., or Engineer-in-Training, EIT, is preferred. \nExperienced EIT candidates who are approaching eligibility to apply for P.Eng. registration are encouraged to apply. \nExperience with PCBAs, wire harnesses, power electronics, industrial control systems, magnetic systems, or electromechanical products is considered an
