You will collaborate with product, DevOps, and QA teams, contribute to documentation, and continuously improve your skills in cloud, automation, and modern data engineering practices.\n\nEssential Functions / Deliverables:\nDatabase Architecture, Design & Development:\nDesign relational and distributed database schemas for scalability, performance, and normalization\nDevelop and maintain SQL queries, PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions\nDefine and enforce data modelling standards\nSupport both OLTP and OLAP environments\n\nPerformance Tuning & Optimization:\nPerform advanced query tuning, indexing strategies, and plan analysis\nIdentify and resolve bottlenecks and slow queries\nOptimize large-volume transactions and reporting performance across databases\nAutomate monitoring and alerting of performance issues\n\nDatabase Administration and Environment Management:\nManage deployments, patches, backups, restores, and upgrades of Oracle/PostgreSQL/MySQL environments\nImplement high-availability and failover solutions\nEnsure data security, access controls, and audit readiness\nAssist with replication and data migration strategies\n\nBackend and Full-Stack Integration:\nWork with backend developers (Dot Net Core, Dot Net Framework, Python, Java) to integrate database logic into applications\nDesign and consume RESTful APIs to facilitate secure data exchange\nParticipate in full-stack development with occasional involvement in frontend tasks (HTML/CSS/JS)\n\nCross-functional Collaboration:\nCollaborate with QA, DevOps, Product Managers, and UX teams\nTranslate business requirements into technical specifications\nParticipate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos\n\nDocumentation, Standards & Governance:\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, ER diagrams, SOPs, and version history\nPromote database best practices, naming conventions, and change control policies\nContribute to SKO's internal knowledge base and technical wiki\n\nCloud Data Strategy & BI Tool Integration:\nPrototype and recommend cloud-native DB solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL)\nIntegrate with BI/reporting platforms (SSRS, Power BI, Metabase)\nDevelop ETL/ELT data pipelines for analytics initiatives\n\nContinuous Improvement and Learning:\nParticipate in code reviews and peer learning\nIdentify skills gaps and seek training opportunities\nContribute to proof-of-concept initiatives and tech evaluations\nStay updated on trends in database development, cloud, and automation\n\nNice to have:\nLinux Environment & Shell Scripting and Cloud & BI Tool Experience will be an added advantage\nSupport database operations in Linux environments\nWrite and maintain shell scripts for automation\n\nAI & Automation in Data Engineering (Improvement):\nExplore and adopt AI-powered tools for query optimisation, anomaly detection, and documentation\nAutomate repetitive database tasks using scripts and modern tools\nExperiment with AI-driven analytics and reporting\nShare insights and promote innovation in database practices\n\nRequirements:\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field\nCertifications (Preferred): Certifications in Oracle / PostgreSQL / AWS / GCP\nRequired Professional Experience:\n5-7 years of hands-on database development experience in enterprise or product-based environments\nExperience working in Agile or DevOps-based teams\nTechnical/Computer Skills:\nDatabase Platforms: Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server (others a plus)\nLanguages: SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Python, Java (basic)\nFrameworks/Tools: REST APIs, SSRS/SSIS, Shell Scripting, Git\nOperating Systems: Windows, Linux (preferred)\nSkills: Query optimisation, ER modelling, backup & recovery, source control, Agile development tools (ADO, Confluence)\n\nProfessional competencies:\nStrong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills\nExcellent verbal and written communication\nAbility to collaborate with cross-functional teams\nDeep expertise in relational database theory, design, and architecture\n\nBehaviour and Social competencies:\nDeep expertise in relational database theory, design, and architecture\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills\nAbility to manage priorities in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment\nClear communication and documentation skills\nCapability to work independently and in collaborative environment\nStrong sense of ownership, business acumen, leadership mindset, and accountability\nWillingness to contribute to the company's product growth and development culture\n\nEthics & Compliance:\nThis position demands the highest standard of integrity and ethical behaviour.
