In Prague, we work across a wide range of engineering domains: frontend development (mobile, TV, and web), backend (Java), platform engineering, content delivery networks, video playback (Golang), and data engineering (Python). What role will you play?
As our Senior CDN Engineer,You’lljoin the Content Delivery Engineering team within NBCUniversal’s Global Video Engineering organization. Your mission is to help deliver outstanding VOD, live event, and linear streaming experiences to millions of viewers across our US, UK, EU, and Africa services-including Peacock,SkyShowtimeand NOW/WOW.
You’llcollaborate daily with colleagues and vendors across the US, UK, and beyond - excellent written and spoken English is essential. Our team specializes in large-scale Multi-Content Delivery Network design and operations, performance telemetry and analytics,selection& interfacing with content origins via multiple workflows, dynamic ad insertion, manifest manipulation and integrating new player technologies.
What You'll Do:
Design new andoptimizeexisting content delivery designs to boost performance, improveresilienceand expand features for our products and services.
Focus on using log analysis and observability systems to troubleshoot, diagnose issues and drive in-depth analysis for rapid resolutions.
Ensure diligent peer review of changes, contributing to our goal of improving reliability and reducing incidents.
Bring your rigor and insight to the development of our FT and NFT test methods and procedures.
Create andmaintainoperations runbooks and checklists for our production delivery.
Participate in on-call rotation to resolve operational issues and performance degradation.
Attain a comprehensive, technical understanding of how all NBCUniversal's streaming products and associated technologiesoperate.
What skills do you need to play your role well?
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a relevant field,equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
A background in CDN or web server/proxy configuration management is desirable but notrequired, as full CDN training will be provided to the right candidate.
Sound understanding and use of TCP/IP, IPv4/v6, DNS, HTTP,TLSand load balancing in production.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation,including module design and peer review of infrastructure changes.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based networking,firewall,securityand data products is a plus.
Skilled with using software repositories, CI/CD pipelines and writing test automation,with the ability to define and champion engineering best practices within theteam.
Familiarity with large-scale, distributed performance testing, including Functional/Non-Functional Testing (NFT), is a plus.
Scripting and programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash) applied to operational automation, tooling, and reducing toil.
Well versed, working with SRE teams & technologies toassistsafe, consistent technology operations.
Ability to work effectively in a distributed, multi-cultural team, collaborating across time zones.
