You’ll work across infrastructure automation, configuration management, monitoring, virtualisation and hands-on lab engineering, helping make our environments more reliable, standardised and efficient. This is a practical, collaborative role where you’ll work with technologies such as Ansible, Windows, Linux and Prometheus, while exploring how AI and automation can simplify operational workflows and improve the way we manage our infrastructure.\nGlobal Devices Our team design and build the industry-leading devices and the software powering them, connecting our customers to moments that matter. From defining product strategy and owning end-to-end device lifecycles, to engineering, manufacturing, launch and ongoing optimisation, we bring world-class hardware and software experiences to life. Working across connectivity, entertainment and smart home devices for Sky, Comcast, Xumo and our syndication partners, we blend deep technical expertise with bold, innovative thinking.\nWhat you’ll do\nSupport, maintain and improve lab infrastructure, including Windows and Linux systems, virtual machines, networking and associated infrastructure.\n\nDevelop infrastructure automation and configuration management using tools such as Ansible, reducing repetitive provisioning, configuration, validation and operational activities.\n\nMonitor and troubleshoot infrastructure health and connectivity, using observability technologies such as Prometheus to improve reliability and operational visibility.\n\nExplore AI and automation opportunities to improve engineering workflows, standardisation and operational efficiency.\n\nSupport hands-on lab activities and collaborate with engineering teams, including rack equipment installation, patching, fibre and Cat6 cabling, while tracking engineering activities through Jira.\n\nWhat you’ll bring\nEssential criteria:\nRelevant current hands-on commercial experience in infrastructure, DevOps or systems engineering.\n\nA degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nCurrent practical experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management, particularly Ansible or similar deployment tooling.\n\nGood working knowledge of Linux and Windows environments and virtual machine platforms.\n\nExperience with infrastructure monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus.\n\nStrong infrastructure troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience using work-tracking tools such as Jira or similar.\n\nWillingness to work hands-on in a lab environment and enthusiasm for applying AI and automation to operational workflows.\n\nDesirable skills and experience:\nPrevious experience working in an engineering, test or laboratory environment.\n\nExperience with physical infrastructure, racks, networking, fibre or Cat6 cabling.\n\nBroader experience in infrastructure standardisation, operational tooling or process improvement.\n\nBenefits and perks\nThere's one thing people can't stop talking about when it comes to life at Sky: the perks.
