You could help eliminate them at Skylo.\nSkylo has pioneered a standards-based approach to satellite connectivity. We connect smartphones and IoT devices directly to satellites. No special hardware, no entirely new networks. Just billions of existing devices, suddenly reachable anywhere on Earth. We're not building toward this future. We're already in it.\nOur direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents, covering more than 72 million square kilometers, in partnership with leading satellite operators, mobile network operators, Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs worldwide. And we're just getting started.\nAt the heart of it all is Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN: a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native platform that seamlessly bridges terrestrial and satellite networks. It's the infrastructure that makes true anywhere, anytime connectivity possible.\nWhen you join Skylo, you'll work at the intersection of three markets reshaping how the world stays connected: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. Enabling people outdoors and critical workflows in the world's most remote places.\nThis is a rare chance to work on technology that matters, at a company that's already proving it works\nThis role is hybrid in Mountain View, CA\nABOUT THE ROLE:\nEvery MNO onboarding ends at a technical test gate. We are hiring an automation-oriented IREG & Network Test Engineer to own that gate-from attach and authentication through SGD, MAP, SMS, IP NIDD, and roaming sign-off.\nYou will replace manual, partner-dependent execution with a repeatable test strategy, scalable lab, and automated regression pipeline.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nStrategy & Automation\nOwn the IREG Testing Strategy: Define the roadmap for MNO onboarding-including clear pass/fail criteria, evidence requirements, and sign-off processes-so we can scale our roaming partnerships faster and more reliably.\n\nDrive Testing Innovation: Look beyond manual execution to build a long-term automation strategy that makes our roaming validation smarter, faster, and eventually hands-free.\n\nAdapt Standards for Space: Take standard GSMA roaming test suites and figure out what’s missing for Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), designing new edge-case tests that bridge the gap between terrestrial and satellite.\n\nBuild the Testing Lab: Design, scale, and maintain an automation harness capable of reliably running both standard GSMA and custom NB-IoT NTN scenarios.\n\nTechnical Execution & Troubleshooting\nEnsure End-to-End Interoperability: Validate the entire roaming journey (Registration, S6a/S6d, SGd, IP, NIDD), ensuring smooth handoffs across satellite and cellular networks.\n\nTranslate Complex Tech into Test Cases: Build comprehensive test scenarios by combining GSMA standards, partner network configurations, and our unique NB-IoT NTN traffic profiles.\n\nTroubleshoot Across Borders: Dig into Diameter/SS7 traces and network logs to isolate and resolve complex routing or signaling issues happening anywhere between our network, the IPX, and the MNOs.\n\nLearn from Real-World Friction: Turn production snags and onboarding hiccups into automated regression tests to ensure we continuously improve and never fix the same bug twice.\n\nLeadership & Collaboration\nAct as the Subject Matter Expert: Use your deep knowledge of 3GPP protocols (LTE/5G/NB-IoT NTN) and RAN/Core networks to guide engineering and product teams on technical decisions.\n\nOwn the Defect Lifecycle: Don't just log bugs-track them down to the root cause, partner with engineering on the fix, and see them through to complete closure.\n\nKeep Leadership Informed: Build and share clear dashboards covering test cycle times, defect rates, and overall readiness so the business always knows where MNO onboarding stands.\n\nCollaborate Across Boundaries: Work hand-in-hand with internal teams (Signaling, Billing, NOC, Product) and external partners (IPX, MNOs) to get new networks launched smoothly.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n5+ years of experience in roaming, mobile core, interconnect, IREG, or telecommunications network testing.\n\nHands-on understanding of Diameter and relevant SS7/MAP concepts, including S6a/S6d, SGd, and roaming authentication and registration flows.\n\nExperience reading Wireshark or equivalent signalling traces and diagnosing network failures involving multiple parties.\n\nExperience designing automated telecommunications testing frameworks using Python or comparable languages and CI practices.\n\nFluency with IR.21/RAEX, PLMN, IMSI, TADIG, and structured testing evidence.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nNB-IoT, NTN, NIDD, IoT roaming, GSMA test-suite, or device-lab experience.\n\nFamiliarity with IMSI Tracing, Diameter/SS7 testing tools, Jira, Confluence, and dashboarding.\n\nExperience integrating network testing with TAP and billing validation.\n\nWHAT WE OFFER\nWith employees working across three continents, Skylo is proud to be an equal opportunity employer dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce. Our worldwide culture encourages a flexible approach to work, and we offer an attractive range of benefits:\nCompetitive compensation packages including a stock option-based equity program\n\nComprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan\n\nMonthly allowances for wellness and education reimbursement\n\nA generous time-off policy, holidays, and the opportunity to temporarily work abroad\n\nA once-in-a-career opportunity to operate the world's first commercial, live direct-to-device satellite network\n\nAccess to a world-class team across software, hardware, chipsets, telecom, satellite, and network virtualization\n\nOpen, transparent, inclusive culture that blends Silicon Valley, Nordic, and South Asia characteristics.\n\nThe estimated base salary range for this role is:\nSan Francisco, CA: $155,000 - $165,000\n\nOther US Locations: $135,000 - $145,000\n\nWithin the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant training.\nIn addition to base salary, Skylo offers a competitive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and equity options.\nEEO STATEMENT\nSkylo is an equal-opportunity employer and we celebrate diversity. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, parent or caregiver status, political affiliation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service consistent with applicable federal, state, and local laws.\nWe are also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. Please let us know if you need assistance or accommodation due to a disability.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6923,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Health insurance","Retirement plans"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Satellite Communications","IoT Connectivity"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-08-13T06:42:30Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 14 · green card filings: 3","filings_12m":14,"filings_prev_12m":6,"green_card_filings_12m":3,"median_offered_wage_usd":189559,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T11:24:14+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)","US Department of Labor: PERM disclosure data (green cards)"],"filings_for_role_12m":9}],"liveness":{"score":40,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.732,"p_room":0.55,"age_days":64,"expected_fill_days":47,"reasons":["conf:3","velocity","win:tail"],"computed_at":"2026-10-17T05:46:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":165000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/skylo-technologies-senior-ireg-network-test-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/skylo-technologies-senior-ireg-network-test-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-18T07:56:18Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":11867,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-19T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":5519},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=5519"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fskylo-technologies-senior-ireg-network-test-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fskylo-technologies-senior-ireg-network-test-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fskylo-technologies-senior-ireg-network-test-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/skylo-technologies-senior-ireg-network-test-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fskylo-technologies-senior-ireg-network-test-engineer"}]}
