Enabling people outdoors and critical workflows in the world's most remote places.\nThis is a rare chance to work on technology that matters, at a company that's already proving it works\nThis role is located in Bangalore, India where we are onsite 3 days a week in office. \nSummary Of How You Will Impact Skylo\nSkylo is hiring a Senior Network and IP Engineer to help fulfill Skylo’s mission of making satellite connectivity available to all. As part of the Network Design & Planning team in Bangalore, this individual will design, build, and optimise the IP transport that ties Skylo’s network together, from ground stations and satellite gateways through backhaul and data centers to our cloud-native RAN and core in public cloud. Your work will ensure our transport network is resilient, secure, and scalable as Skylo’s commercial direct-to-device service grows across continents.\nHow You Will Contribute\nDesign and implement IP transport and routing for Skylo’s network, including routers, switches, and firewalls across ground stations, data centers, and cloud.\n\nDesign and operate routing architectures using BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, and MPLS (L3VPN/L2VPN, segment routing), including routing policy, traffic engineering, and redundancy (VRRP, BFD, ECMP).\n\nDesign and deliver backhaul connectivity from ground stations and satellite gateways to Skylo’s cloud and data center sites, including carrier circuits, IPsec/SD-WAN overlays, and diverse-path resilience.\n\nDesign cloud networking in AWS and GCP (VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect / Cloud Interconnect, VPN) and hybrid connectivity to on-prem sites.\n\nDefine IP addressing, subnetting, VLAN, VRF, and QoS designs for RAN, core, management, and interconnect traffic.\n\nSupport interconnects with MNO and roaming partners (IPX/GRX, peering, private interconnects) in collaboration with core network engineers.\n\nImplement network security controls, including segmentation, ACLs, firewall policy, and DDoS protection, together with the Security team.\n\nAutomate network configuration and validation using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, and NetBox.\n\nMonitor transport performance (latency, jitter, loss, utilisation), perform capacity planning, and drive improvements to availability and scalability.\n\nTroubleshoot complex network issues and support Operations with root cause analysis and escalations.\n\nDocument network architecture, configurations, and procedures, and conduct proof-of-solutions to validate technical proposals.\n\nWhat We Look For\n6+ years of experience in IP network engineering, ideally within a telecom operator, service provider, or large-scale cloud/data center environment.\n\nStrong hands-on experience with BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, and MPLS, including routing policy design and troubleshooting.\n\nHands-on experience with TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, network tunnelling (GRE, IPsec, VXLAN), and redundancy protocols (VRRP, BFD, LAG/LACP).\n\nExperience configuring and optimising carrier-grade routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet).\n\nExperience with public cloud networking (AWS VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect; GCP networking) and hybrid connectivity.\n\nExperience designing WAN/backhaul connectivity, including carrier circuits, SD-WAN, and QoS.\n\nFamiliarity with network automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python, NetBox).\n\nFamiliarity with mobile network transport (RAN backhaul, S1/N2/N3, GTP, IPX/GRX) is a strong plus.\n\nGeneral knowledge of satellite communication over LEO and GEO, and ground station networking, is a plus.\n\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills.\n\nIndustry certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, or equivalent are preferred.\n\nWhat We Offer\nWith employees working across three continents, Skylo is proud to be an equal opportunity employer dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce.
