The Field Supervisor is responsible for leading safe and efficient execution of internal wind turbine blade inspections utilizing the SkySpecs internal inspection systems as well as executing annual refresher training and site audits. This role serves as the on-site lead technician and primary authority for daily field operations, including turbine access, climbing operations, confined-space style work inside blades, technician oversight, and worksite control.\nThe Field Supervisor ensures compliance with all company, customer, and site-specific safety requirements while maintaining operational excellence during inspections. This individual acts as a technical mentor, safety leader, and communication bridge between field personnel and management, promoting a culture aligned with company values, professionalism, and continuous improvement.\nWork expectations:\nThe Field Supervisor will work on regular working rotations in the field with internal inspection teams on a 3 week-on, 1-week off rotation.\nDuring these rotations, the Field Supervisor will facilitate annual refresher training and audits when time allows.\nThe intention of field audits and training is to supplement initial SkySpecs process training as well as bi-annual GWO training with practical, recurring assessments/audits to ensure technicians are proficient in their skills, processes and equipment. \nKey Responsibilities\nSafety Leadership & Worksite Control\nAssume leadership and operational control of the worksite and designated work zone during daily field operations.\nEnsure all climbing, turbine access, rescue readiness, and blade-entry activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company and site requirements.\nVerify safe operational status of turbines prior to inspection activities.\nLead and enforce compliance with all company policies, customer procedures, and site-specific safety requirements.\nConduct pre-job briefings, hazard assessments, and daily safety discussions with field personnel.\nMonitor technician performance and intervene when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified.\nMaintain accountability for proper use of PPE, climbing gear, rescue equipment, and inspection systems.\nSupport incident prevention through proactive hazard recognition and risk mitigation.\nProvide on-site mentorship and training of technicians\nAssist with technician onboarding and training\nExecute annual refresher training and audits\nComplete all relevant training and compliance paperwork\nOperational Oversight\nLead internal blade inspection operations using the SkySpecs crawler inspection system.\nCoordinate daily field activities to ensure inspections are completed safely, efficiently, and according to scope.\nEnsure proper setup, operation, troubleshooting, and handling of inspection equipment.\nVerify all inspection procedures and operational workflows are followed accurately.\nAssist with scheduling, task delegation, and workflow coordination in the field.\nMaintain high standards of operational readiness and professionalism during customer-facing activities.\nCoordinate with the SkySpecs HSE Department and Internal Inspections Manager on the execution of the annual competency and training framework\nCompliance & Documentation\nEnsure all required site documentation, permits, procedures, and operational paperwork are completed accurately and maintained properly.\nMaintain compliance with company operational procedures and customer requirements.\nAssist in tracking and maintaining required GWO certifications and training compliance for team members.\nSupport audit readiness and documentation retention requirements.\nReport operational concerns, incidents, and compliance issues through proper channels.\nSubmits training reports and audit forms into Airspace Pro and the SkySpecs Field Application\nTeam Leadership & Mentorship\nServe as a mentor, instructor and technical resource for field technicians.\nPromote professional development, accountability, and operational consistency across the team.\nFacilitate effective communication between technicians, supervisors, management, and customers.\nLead by example through professionalism, safety ownership, and adherence to company values.\nAssist in onboarding and field training of new technicians.\nEncourage a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.\nRequired Qualifications\n3+ Experience working in wind turbine operations, blade inspections, rope access, climbing operations, or related field services.\n1+ year proven experience as a SkySpecs-employed Field Technician\nStrong understanding of turbine safety procedures and field operations.\nDemonstrated leadership experience in field environments or technical operations.\nAbility to lead teams in high-risk operational environments.\nStrong communication and organizational skills.\nAbility to maintain accurate documentation and procedural compliance.\nComfortable working at heights and in confined or restricted workspaces.\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCurrent GWO certifications.\nExperience with internal blade inspections or robotic crawler inspection systems.\nPrevious supervisory or lead technician experience.\nRope access, rescue, or advanced climbing
