We give our customers two options to deploy the heat pump: (A) a traditional CAPEX purchase, and (B) an innovative Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) model with zero CAPEX and savings from day one. Either way, customers save money and reduce emissions while minimizing risk.\nSkyven is an industry-leading high-growth company with a high-performance team. This is a role for someone who wants to do serious engineering in a startup environment: move quickly, think deeply, work with strong people, and help turn ambitious concepts into equipment that works in the field.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer who exemplifies strong engineering judgment combined with strong practical mechanical engineering capability. We especially value engineers who have spent time close to real hardware in the field and know the difference between what looks good on paper and what really works.\nYou will work closely with the CTO and the rest of the technical team to complement strong system-level and conceptual thinking with deep practical mechanical judgment. That means helping translate ambitious product concepts into designs that can actually be built, commissioned, operated, and maintained. This role is an individual contributor role, but we are looking for someone with the maturity and breadth to become a technical lead in the future.\nThis role is for someone who is energized by understanding how an entire system works, not just producing drawings or sourcing parts. You should be the kind of engineer who wants to understand the “why” behind requirements, spot weaknesses in a design, ask hard questions early, and improve a system’s performance, operability, reliability, and cost. So, you should be comfortable moving between first-principles thinking and practical design decisions. One day that may mean digging into system architecture, operability, or failure modes. Another day it may mean reviewing a P&ID, building CAD, tightening a spec, challenging a vendor design, or catching issues in a drawing package before they become field problems.\nWhat You’ll Do\nHelp develop and refine industrial thermal-fluid systems with a strong eye toward buildability, operability, maintainability, and cost \nContribute to and improve P&IDs, system layouts, piping concepts, mechanical arrangements, and equipment designs \nCreate CAD models, assemblies, and drawings where needed, not just review them \nCritically review prints, layouts, and design packages and catch issues before they reach fabrication or the field \nWork across process, mechanical, electrical, controls, and field considerations rather than staying narrowly inside one discipline \nDevelop technical specifications for major mechanical equipment and supporting components \nDrive portions of the design from concept through vendor engagement, detailed design, fabrication, and field feedback \nWork directly with suppliers and fabricators to clarify requirements, review designs, answer RFIs, and make sound judgements on open-ended engineering questions \nIdentify opportunities to standardize or automate parts of the design process, including engineering tools, design workflows, drawing generation, or CAD workflows \nHelp raise the technical level of the team through strong review, clear reasoning, and high standards while keeping an eye on speed and pragmatism \nThe Kind of Engineer Who Will Thrive Here\nThis role is a strong fit for someone who:\nThinks from first principles and wants to understand how the system really works \nHas strong intuition for mechanical design, field realities, and failure modes \nCan move between concept-level system thinking and detailed execution \nLikes startup speed, but still cares deeply about engineering rigor \nTakes ownership, notices what others miss, and is comfortable speaking up \nRequirements\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience \n8+ years of relevant experience in industrial equipment, process equipment, thermal-fluid systems, energy systems, rotating equipment, or related product development \nStrong mechanical engineering fundamentals across piping, pressure vessels, materials, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, skidded systems, bearings, and fabrication \nSkill creating and modifying P&IDs and translating system intent into practical hardware \nStrong CAD capability, ideally in SolidWorks, including ability to create models and drawings directly \nStrong print review instincts and the ability to find issues, inconsistencies, and bad assumptions in mechanical design packages \nAbility to make sound engineering judgments in ambiguous, first-of-a-kind, or cross-disciplinary situations \nAbility to communicate clearly with engineers, vendors, fabricators, and leadership \nWillingness to engage with real hardware, real field constraints, and real operating problems \nEspecially Valuable\nExperience in an industrial startup or fast-moving product development environment \nHands-on field, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or plant support experience \nExperience with pumps, compressors, turbomachinery, steam systems, thermal systems, or fluid systems \nWorking knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as ASME and API \nExperience reviewing or developing piping layouts, supports, stress/life considerations, materials selections, and fabrication details \nExperience improving engineering workflows through scripting, automation, design tools, or model-based approaches \nAbility to use Python or similar tools for engineering analysis or automation \nWhat We Value\nWe value engineers who are curious, rigorous, hard to fool, and hard to impress. We look for people who want to understand what is actually going on in a system, who care whether a design will really work, and who are willing to challenge assumptions when something does not look right. We are especially interested in people who combine first principles thinking with practical mechanical depth, independent thinking, and high ownership.\nBenefits\nFlexible PTO \nStock options \nMedical, dental, and 401k benefits \nSalary range: $130,000 to $160,000 \nLocation\nWe are a remote-first organization; this role is fully remote. \nThe candidate must be currently based in and have the right to work in the United States.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6477,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["401k plan","Stock options"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Energy Efficiency","HVAC & Refrigeration"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-12T08:06:55Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":10,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.352,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":166,"expected_fill_days":40,"reasons":["conf:3","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-12T19:27:32Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":160000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/skyven-technologies-senior-mechanical-systems-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/skyven-technologies-senior-mechanical-systems-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-12T19:27:32Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":31572,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-13T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":692179},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=692179"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fskyven-technologies-senior-mechanical-systems-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fskyven-technologies-senior-mechanical-systems-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fskyven-technologies-senior-mechanical-systems-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/skyven-technologies-senior-mechanical-systems-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fskyven-technologies-senior-mechanical-systems-engineer"}]}
