What you'll do:

• Be part of a team supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by disseminating data to researchers who are studying ways to improve the quality and reduce the cost of care provided to chronically ill Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. (No big deal).
• Ingest new data sources into the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW), helping expand access to valuable healthcare data for research and policy innovation.
• Build, optimize, and maintain data views that integrate new and existing datasets-ensuring accuracy, clarity, and usability for analysts and researchers.
• Design and support ETL workflows in a cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake), ensuring reliability and scalability of data loading operations.
• Support production operations, including rotation-based responsibilities for ETL loads-some of which may occur off-hours or on weekends.
• Document processes and business logic, creating reliable technical references that support audits, troubleshooting, and onboarding.
• Collaborate closely with data analysts, technical leads, and CMS partners to align data structures with end-user needs and program goals.
• Proactively identify and resolve database or performance issues, contributing to continuous improvement of data systems.

What we'd like you to have:

• A bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a Database Developer, ideally in a government or healthcare setting.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, ETL development, and Snowflake data warehouse concepts.
• Exposure to AI or Machine Learning for data quality and anomaly detection.
• An understanding of data management best practices (permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring).
• Familiarity with front-end requirements and ability to translate business needs into backend solutions.
• Knowledge of development tools such as the .NET Framework, JavaScript, HTML, and Oracle.
• A proactive problem-solving attitude and strong communication skills.

What would blow us away:

• You’ve supported CMS or similar federal health data programs before.
• You’ve worked with Snowflake or modern cloud-based data warehouses.
