This role is ideal for candidates with demonstrated junior-level engineering experience who are eager to build technical skills in metrology, manufacturing quality, and laboratory operations. You will work closely with experienced engineers, quality, and production teams while gaining exposure to real-world manufacturing and launch environments at our manufacturing facility in Warsaw, Indiana.\nThis is a strong opportunity to develop hands-on experience with advanced measurement technologies while contributing directly to product quality and continuous improvement. We welcome applicants with developing technical skills who are eager to grow.\n| WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENT:\nApplicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.\n| WHAT YOU GET TO DO:\nSupport calibration, measurement, and testing of equipment and components using established procedures and industry standards (e.g., ISO 17025) \nLearn to operate and maintain metrology equipment, including blue-light laser scanners, portable scanning arms, hand gauges, and other measurement tools \nPerform routine inspections and verification activities to ensure measurement accuracy and system reliability \nDocument calibration procedures, inspection results, and equipment records with strong attention to detail \nSupport day-to-day laboratory operations, including instrument upkeep and quality assurance practices \nAssist with troubleshooting measurement systems and laboratory equipment, with guidance from senior engineers \nCollaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support manufacturing, launch, and research activities \nParticipate in internal audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives \nFollow all safety and quality protocols to maintain a safe and compliant lab and manufacturing environment \nStay engaged in learning new tools, software, and measurement methods as technologies and processes evolve \nPerform other duties as assigned related to metrology and laboratory support \n| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:\n8+ years related experience with Bachelor's degree, 6 years with Master's degree, 3 years with PhD or equivalent experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or similar).\nAbility to quickly learn metrology software; experience with PolyWorks, ZEISS Inspect Pro, ATOS ScanBox, or scanning arms is a plus but not required \nFamiliarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and communication \nWillingness to learn GD&T and read technical drawings \nBasic understanding of manufacturing or quality concepts (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, etc.) is a plus \nStrong teamwork mindset and willingness to collaborate across functions \nAbility to organize, prioritize, and manage tasks in a fast-paced engineering environment \nComfortable performing hands-on work, including lifting or handling equipment up to 50 lbs as needed \nWHY JOIN TEAM SLATE?\nAt Slate, we’re fueled by grit, determination, and attention to detail.
