This role applies industrial engineering principles to optimize labor, material flow, equipment utilization, and production systems while supporting new product launches, capacity expansion, and continuous improvement initiatives. Works closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and automation teams to drive data-based decisions and deliver sustainable operational improvements.\n| WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENT:\nApplicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.\n| WHAT YOU GET TO DO:\nProcess Design & Optimization\nDevelop and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.\nConduct time studies, work measurement, and line balancing.\nImplement lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S, SMED).\nLayout & Material Flow\nDesign plant layouts, workstation ergonomics, and material flow.\nOptimize logistics within the plant (kanban systems, material handling).\nEnsure space utilization and smooth workflow.\nCapacity Planning & Resource Management\nAnalyze production capacity, time study, and forecast requirements.\nPlan manpower, machines, and tooling for new and existing programs.\nSupport capital investment decisions for equipment.\nCost Analysis & Continuous Improvement\nPerform cost analysis for processes and suggest improvements.\nDrive continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and increase productivity.\nMonitor KPIs like cycle time, OEE, and scrap rates.\nQuality & Safety Integration\nEnsure processes comply with quality standards.\nIntegrate ergonomics and safety into process design.\nSupport root cause analysis for process-related defects.\nNew Program Support\nParticipate in DFM/A (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) reviews.\nSupport launch readiness by validating process capability.\nPrepare Process FMEA, work instructions and standard operating procedures.\n| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:\nEducation & Experience\n12+ years related automotive manufacturing experience with Bachelor's degree, 8 years with Master's degree, 5 years with PhD or equivalent experience\nExperience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP systems.\nAutomotive OEM experience preferred.\nExperience with Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing.\nSkills\nProven leadership skills and ability to manage cross-functional teams.\nStrong knowledge of trim line processes and automotive interior components.\nExcellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office and production planning software\nWorking Conditions\nManufacturing plant environment\nExposure to moving machinery and industrial noise\nMay require shift work (days, nights, weekends)\nWHY JOIN TEAM SLATE?\nAt Slate, we’re fueled by grit, determination, and attention to detail.
