Under guidance of experienced laboratory specialists and technical supervisors, the trainee will support laboratory testing, fluid sampling, quality control, data management, and laboratory operations, while developing technical competency in hydrocarbon analysis, production chemistry, laboratory quality systems, and HSE practices in accordance with SLB standards.\nThis position includes structured learning, on-the-job training and competency development all in a diverse and inclusive work environment adhering to SLB values of people, technology and performance.\nResponsibilities:\nParticipate in laboratory testing activities as per SLB procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards\n\nSupport routine analysis of crude oil, gas, produced water, glycol, amine, and production chemicals using industry-approved methods\n\nParticipate in field sampling under SLB HSE protocols\n\nApply laboratory quality control practices in line with SLB QMS and ISO standards\n\nAssist with calibration, maintenance, and checks of lab equipment\n\nRecord and manage results, reports, calibration logs, and quality documentation using SLB digital tools\n\nAssist in inventory management of consumables and reagents\n\nPrepare laboratory reports and technical summaries for internal stakeholders\n\nParticipate in audits, inspections, quality improvement, and compliance verification\n\nSupport lab commissioning, startup activities, and new method implementation as required\n\nDevelop competency in hydrocarbon analysis and fluid characterization\n\nMaintain safe, compliant lab environment, participate in safety programs and risk assessments\n\nComplete structured training, competency milestones, and development plans\n\nFoster diversity and inclusion, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability in a global setting\n\nSupport SLB’s sustainability initiatives through responsible lab practices\n\nUphold SLB’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards in all professional activities\n\nExperiences and Exposures:\nDiploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or relevant discipline\n\n0-2 years of experience (recent graduate preferred)\n\nStrong academic background in chemistry, laboratory science, or related subjects\n\nBasic knowledge of laboratory techniques, chemical handling, and laboratory safety\n\nInternship, research project, or practical lab experience advantageous\n\nFamiliarity with lab equipment (GC, spectrophotometer, water analysis, etc.) advantageous\n\nAwareness of oil/gas production, hydrocarbon properties, or process fluids desirable\n\nKnowledge of quality systems and ISO standards an advantage\n\nFamiliarity with digital data management, MS Office\n\nAnalytical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn\n\nGood teamwork, communication, and willingness for field/lab work\n\nWillingness to travel and/or relocate as required\n\nFluency in English\n\nSLB is an equal opportunity employer.
