We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.\nDescription & Scope:\nYou will be part of the multi-disciplinary team developing technologies for oil and gas well construction and pursuing fundamental research in rock cutting mechanics. The goal of this internship is to study rock cutting mechanics. Your role will be to work with research scientists to apply an FEA model to simulate rock cutting and compare the numerical results with experimental data. The project could include developing and validating new features for the FEA model.\nResponsibilities:\nPlan and conduct laboratory experiments, analyze and interpret results, and document findings in a technical report.\n\nPresent project outcomes and recommendations to the research centre and key stakeholders.\n\nWork closely with experienced researchers while progressively taking ownership of project direction and experimental planning.\n\nExplore complementary areas of interest, such as modelling, design, or data analysis, where relevant to the project.\n\nBy the end of the internship, you will have gained hands-on experience in experimental research, data interpretation, technical communication, and stakeholder engagement, while developing the independence to shape and drive scientific investigations.\nRequirements :\nStudying a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline\n\nData processing and analysis (Matlab) Finite element modelling (ANSYS or ABAQUS)\n\nGood communication skills\n\nTeamwork and collaboration\n\nPreferred: Background in solid mechanics\n\nSLB is an equal employment opportunity employer.
