Given the diverse nature of SLR’s business, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience and work across multiple geoscience disciplines.\nThis position is ideal for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and knowledge in engineering geology and/or geotechnical engineering and is or soon to be recognised as a professional, chartered geologist (PGeo). SLR’s “one team” culture is at the heart of all our business and provides a collaborative and supportive environment for professional development.\nWe are seeking an experienced Geologist / Engineering Geologist with a strong technical background and an excellent track record in project management. The role involves mentoring junior staff, so effective communication skills are essential.\nAbout the role\nWith support from senior colleagues, initial duties and responsibilities will include:\nSupervision of mineral resource drilling programmes and geological core logging\nPlanning procurement and management of ground investigations and preparation of factual and interpretative reports\nUndertaking routine quarry inspections, aggregate sampling and sample management\nGenerating and manging geological / geotechnical databases;\nPetrographic analyses and preparation of technical reports\nReviewing, interpreting and reporting the results of routine aggregate analysis; and\nPreparing geological Conceptual Site Models.\nThe position will involve regular site work which may involve working on sites away from home for short periods.\nIt is desirable that applicants have some experience of using CAD or GIS software.\nAbout you:\nCandidates should be able to demonstrate:\nBSc Geology (or related subject) and formal academic training in Earth Science\nExperience of core logging and sampling would be useful\nAn effective communicator, both verbally and within written reports\nFamiliarity with CAD, ArcGIS, MapInfo or QGIS would be advantageous\nA full driving licence valid in Ireland/the EU\nRewards & Benefits\nSLR's ‘One Team’ culture is at the heart of our business, providing a collaborative and supportive environment where people can develop and grow.
