SLR Consulting is an environmental and sustainability consultancy headquartered in Bradford-on-Avon, England, providing advisory, planning, engineering, environmental science and digital services to energy, mining, finance, industry and government clients. It works from offices across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Canada, the United States and Latin America, covering climate resilience, energy transition, biodiversity, waste and mining advisory work. It hires hydrogeologists, geochemists, acoustics, traffic, geotechnical and surface water engineers, mining and resource geology consultants, environmental project managers and IT, finance and people staff.

SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen, within a collaborative, people-first culture.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist (ideally with 3 yrs + experience) to join our established Hydrogeology & Hydrology team in Ireland, delivering high-profile water environment projects.

Based in Dublin or Cork (hybrid) or remotely- with flexibility to be based in other Irish offices or remotely for the right candidate - the role will focus primarily on hydrogeology and hydrology assessments and project delivery, with additional exposure to flood risk, drainage, and wider water environment disciplines, as well as projects spanning renewables, infrastructure, power, industrial and built environment sectors.

The Role

You’ll support and lead the delivery of water environment projects from early planning through to detailed reporting, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Project and technical delivery across hydrogeology and hydrology projects
  • Preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) - Water chapters
  • Management of water monitoring programmes and associated data analysis
  • Development of hydrogeological and hydrological Conceptual Site Models
  • Permitting and licensing support (including Discharge Licences and Industrial Emissions Licences)
  • Site work including supervision of drilling, groundwater monitoring and water sampling
  • Technical report writing and peer review
  • Client interaction and support with proposals and project delivery
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members
  • A mix of desk-based work and site visits across Ireland, with occasional travel

You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Environmental and Earth Sciences, Planning, ESIA and Engineering, as well as SLR’s wider Water Environment group, including flood risk and drainage specialists, geomorphologists and geochemists.

  • A degree in Geoscience, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification advantageous)
  • Experience delivering EIAR Water chapters or equivalent environmental reporting
  • Experience in developing conceptual site models and managing field programmes
  • Knowledge of water permitting/licensing processes
