Platform Engineer

Job Purpose

The Platform Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of middleware and integration platforms, including MIFE, ESB, and API management solutions. The role ensures platform stability, availability, and performance by proactively monitoring systems, troubleshooting incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. The Platform Engineer works closely with vendors, third-party partners, and internal stakeholders to support API gateway implementation, API publishing, and integration services. Additionally, the role is responsible for monitoring technical performance, preparing operational reports, and driving initiatives that enhance platform reliability, scalability, and service quality.

Job Responsibilities

• Operation, maintenance and configuration of MIFE/ESB/API layer platform and publishing APIs to MIFE.
• Support and participate in API design and specifications and integrated testing across sub system. Work closely with WSO2 system vendor, 3rd parties and stakeholders
• Assist in any tech issues related to API design/performance and API Gateway implementations
• To stabilize system performance, day to day monitor and alert to management for problem solving and escalating process
• Work within tight deadlines multi-task effectively
• Prepare reports on performance and technical key performance indicator
• Willing to work at night time if any operation required, 24h/7days on remote work and emergency onsite support.

Job Requirements

• University degree or a relevant undergraduate / professional qualification in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• Experience on ReSTFul APIs and Understanding SOAP APIs.
• Understanding on Application development such as Web, Mobile App, and API.
• Experience on LINUX operation system such as SSH, SFTP, TCP, tracing, check logs, shell script and understating Basic Web services and Database configuration.
• Experience with the following software: RDBMS tools, Visual Studio Code and Eclipse.
• Able to work comfortably with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Understanding Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIPs) and microservices including APIs, proxy-services, and Mediation or ESB.
• Knowledge of MySQL database.
• Knowledge of WSO2 products, Mobile Connect, MS SQL Server and Oracle are a plus.
• Understanding distributed systems, caching and persistence solutions
• Strong in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, problem solving, and complexity analysis
• IT Governance (Foundational): Knowledge and ability to define, update, and implement the company information system management and audit policy
• Process Improvement (Foundational): Knowledge and ability to understand business processes, improve internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and methods to make the unit more efficient
• System Development Life Cycle (Intermediate): Knowledge and application of the process for planning, creating, testing, and deploying an information system
• API Management (Advanced): Knowledge of and ability to apply the tools and processes for publishing, securing, documentation and lifecycle management of APIs
• API Development (Advanced): Knowledge and ability to expose data and operations through numerous API formats, create more complex API interfaces from simple or atomic API operations and understand the security and governance implications of API exposure.
• Architecture Design (Intermediate): Knowledge and ability to set or select standards, patterns and practices for the development of software applications
• Software Quality (Foundational): Knowledge and ability to maintain software functional quality and software structural quality through the standards set by the business (Code Style, Unit Testing, code version management)
• Test Management (Foundational): Knowledge and ability to define and execute a test strategy and test plan that achieves to the quality goals of the organization
• IT Architecture (Foundational): Knowledge and ability to set or select standards, patterns and practices for proper design/solutioning, development and operations of IT and Digital applications
• IT Core Application Development (Intermediate): Knowledge on SDLC and ability to design, create, test and document traditional IT applications - ERP/RA/CRM/ESB/CBS/IPCC/UPCC/Provisioning/Mediation/VAS/EVC/BI/DWH/ETL from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed development and security standard.
• Communication Skills (Intermediate): Knowledge and ability to impart or exchange information by verbal, written or other means
• Problem Solving (Troubleshooting) (Intermediate): Knowledge and ability to analyze problems, identify the root cause, establish cause-and-effect linkages and propose solutions
