You will have significant technical autonomy while collaborating with our multidisciplinary engineering team.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign, build, and test electrical and electromechanical systems incorporating SMA technology\nDesign and integrate power electronics, including generators, motor drives, rectifiers, and inverters\nDesign industrial electrical control panels, including schematics, component selection, and compliance with applicable CSA standards and ESA requirements\nDevelop control and data acquisition systems (DAQ), integrating sensors, actuators, and feedback controls\nDesign and test custom electronic circuits and PCBs, including schematic capture and PCB layout\nDevelop embedded firmware and software for hardware control, data acquisition, and system integration\nSupport electrical prototyping, troubleshooting, equipment procurement, commissioning, and validation\nCollaborate across engineering, R&D, and manufacturing to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer, or Systems Design Engineering, or a related discipline\nHands-on experience designing, assembling, and troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems\nStrong understanding of power electronics, analog and digital circuits, and control systems\nExperience developing automation, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems\nExperience designing industrial electrical panels to applicable CSA standards and Ontario Electrical Safety Code requirements\nExperience with schematic capture, PCB design, and electronic component selection\nProficiency in embedded programming (C/C++) and microcontroller development\nStrong practical problem-solving skills and ability to independently manage technical projects\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience with generators, motor drives, inverters, power conversion, and power management systems (e.g., Victron Energy, OutBack Power)\nExperience with industrial automation, PLCs, SCADA, and industrial communication protocols\nProficiency with PCB design tools, preferably Altium Designer\nExperience with embedded platforms such as ESP32, STM32, Microchip PIC, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi\nExperience with Python, MATLAB, or similar programming and data analysis tools\nFamiliarity with ESA equipment approval processes and industrial electrical commissioning\nExperience with mechatronics, mechanical design, or shape memory alloys\nExperience in a fast-paced R&D or product development environment\nWORKING WITH SMARTER ALLOYS\nSmarter Alloys is a certified medical device manufacturer and smart materials innovator developing proprietary shape memory alloy technologies for applications in medical devices, dental, clean energy, automotive, and consumer products.
