These systems enable customers to automate campaign management, optimize advertising performance, and reliably execute changes across multiple media platforms. As an independent fullstack team operating in the middle of the Smartly product ecosystem, we work closely with product managers, designers, and engineering teams across the company to deliver scalable solutions that create customer value.\nOur technology stack includes TypeScript, Python, Node.js, NestJS, Koa, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, Temporal and React. We are a data-heavy team and rely extensively on strong typing and shared TypeScript definitions that support development across Smartly.\nCheck out our Engineering at Smartly site to learn how our engineering and product development work.\nWhat You Will Do\nDesign, build, and maintain backend services and frontend applications that power campaign automation and optimization features.\nContribute to technical and architectural decisions that improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience.\nDevelop and evolve services such as Triggers, Ad Rotation, Smartly Actions, and Action Router.\nCollaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams to deliver solutions that address customer needs.\nOwn projects from planning through implementation, balancing short-term requirements with long-term maintainability.\nImprove system quality through automated testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.\nMentor engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical collaboration.\nHelp shape Smartly’s target architecture by contributing to cross-team initiatives and platform improvements.\nWhat We Are Looking For\nStrong experience building backend services with TypeScript and Node.js (Python experience is a plus).\nExperience developing modern React applications using TypeScript.\nSolid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, microservice architectures, and cloud-native development practices.\nExperience writing and maintaining automated tests at unit, integration and end-to-end levels.\nAbility to independently drive projects from problem definition through delivery.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across multiple teams and functions.\nA mindset focused on customer value, pragmatic problem solving, and continuous improvement.\nInterest in mentoring and supporting the growth of other engineers.\n Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from our Helsinki office 3 days a week (more if you like).\nWhat We Offer You\nAt Smartly, we offer a place where you can advance your career.
