Data Engineer (Middle / Senior)
SmartOSC is looking for a Data Engineer with strong data pipeline expertise to join our Data & AI team serving enterprise clients in the Japanese market. You will design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure while collaborating directly with Japanese stakeholders on requirements, technical design, and delivery.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
– Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources.
– Develop and optimize data warehouse / data lake models to support analytics, reporting, and downstream AI/ML use cases.
– Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance through validation, monitoring, and documentation.
– Optimize query performance, storage, and pipeline cost across the data platform.
– Collaborate with data analysts, BAs, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
– Communicate directly with Japanese client stakeholders on requirement clarification, technical design reviews, and status reporting.
Requirements
– Min 3~5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Analytics Engineering, or a related field.
– Good proficiency in SQL and Python (or Scala/Java) for data processing.
– Solid experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) or data lakes.
– Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS / GCP / Azure) and its data services.
– Hands-on with workflow orchestration (Airflow, dbt, or similar).
– Experience implementing data transformation, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation processes.
– Good English communication skills is a must.
– Japanese: JLPT N2 or above is a plus.
