The EMEA Accounting team owns all P&L and Balance Sheet accounting (other than that related to revenue, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue). The team is currently responsible for the UK, Bulgarian and German legal entities. As a member of the EMEA Accounting Team, you will perform a variety of tasks, including expense reviews and entries, cost centre allocation entries, invoice reviews, banking, intercompany accounting and the preparation of necessary balance sheet reconciliations for accounts associated with these areas. Additionally, you will take part in the performance of other EMEA accounting tasks, depending on team requirements. The ideal candidate is curious, eager to learn,detail-oriented, and highly organised.\nYou will report to the Director, Accounting EMEA - based in Edinburgh. This role is a hybrid position and you must be willing to travel to Edinburgh once a week for team meetings/events.\nYou Will:\nPrepare journal entries associated with assigned areas\nPrepare journal entries to allocate certain company-wide expenses\nPrepare journal entries to allocate certain company-specific expenses based on the applicable method\nPrepare balance sheet reconciliations and analyse month-over-month variances in P&L accounts\nPrepare monthly analysis of expense accruals\nPrepare statistical submissions\nCommunicate widely, across timezones, developing positive working relationships.\nBe a critical member in helping identify and implement process improvements in our monthly close process\nPlay a key role in external audits, ensuring adherence to internal controls\nPerform other duties as assigned\nYou Have:\nA degree in Accounting and/or 3+ years relevant work experience\nStrong planning and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks\nKnowledge of VAT (with experience coding invoices and expenses for VAT)\nPositive attitude with a desire to learn and grow\nAbility to provide excellent service in a fast-paced environment\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nWillingness to accept responsibility\nStrong analytical ability, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel\nLegally eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basis\nGet to Know Us:\nAt Smartsheet, your ideas are heard, your potential is supported, and your contributions have real impact.
