Challenging boundaries, we look beyond the project scope to ensure we leave a positive impact in the communities we live and work in and allow present and future generations to thrive.\nAbout the Role\nTo provide structural engineering design, analysis, technical assessment, and project support for a range of engineering projects undertaken by SMEC. The position is responsible for delivering technically sound, safe, practical, and cost-effective structural solutions in accordance with applicable codes, standards, project requirements, and SMEC quality procedures.\nThe Structural Engineer will work collaboratively with project managers, civil and multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure structural deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed project schedules.\nResponsibilities:\nUndertake structural analysis and design of buildings, infrastructure, and other structural components as required by the project.\nPrepare design calculations, design reports, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\nApply appropriate structural engineering principles, codes, standards, and design methodologies.\nReview structural systems and recommend practical and cost-effective solutions\nSupport the delivery of structural engineering components of projects from concept and preliminary design through detailed design and construction support.\nPlan and prioritize assigned engineering tasks to meet project deadlines.\nCoordinate structural inputs with other disciplines.\nMonitor progress and promptly identify technical or project delivery issues.\nReview drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, and other engineering deliverables.\nUndertake checking of structural designs prepared by other engineers where required.\nEnsure deliverables comply with relevant codes, standards, client requirements, and SMEC quality procedures.\nIdentify design discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.\nProvide technical support during construction and respond to structural queries and requests for information.\nReview contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and technical proposals as required.\nConduct site inspections or technical assessments when required.\nAssist in investigating structural issues and developing appropriate engineering solutions.\nCollaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.\n• Participate in technical meetings and contribute engineering expertise.\n• Assist in preparing technical proposals, scopes, estimates, and tender documentation when required.\n• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, design efficiency, and project delivery.\n• Maintain professional development and stay updated with relevant engineering practices and standards.\nSupport the business development activities of the D&H Group including proposal preparation, meeting with prospective clients, and other activities.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, preferably with a specialization or strong background in Structural Engineering.\nMust be a licensed/registered Civil Engineer with a valid professional license.\n5-10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering design, analysis, and construction supervision, depending on the level of the position.\nExperience in the design and assessment of buildings, bridges, dams, hydropower structures, or other civil/structural infrastructure is an advantage.\nProficient in structural analysis and design using relevant engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, or equivalent.\nKnowledge of applicable international and local structural design codes and standards.\nAbility to prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and design documentation.\nExperience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and communication skills.\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple assignments while meeting project deadlines.\nExperience in international engineering consultancy projects is an advantage.\nWillingness to undertake site visits and field assignments, as required.\nFamiliarity with SMEC’s relevant technical standards, quality systems, and project procedures is an advantage.\nAt Surbana Jurong, we put talent, hard work, teamwork and a fun workplace together to approach problems and solve them creatively and collaboratively.
