The Cost Accountant is the person who makes sure it does. You match every vendor invoice to its packing slip and purchase order, and when something doesn't match, you find out why and get it fixed.\nThat means holding project managers and purchasers accountable for purchase orders that are correct and documented. Around here, the best people in this seat get called bulldogs. They see something wrong, they hunt it down, and \"it's probably fine\" is not an answer they accept.\nThe work is steady and repetitive, and it rewards consistency. If you're accurate and efficient, there's room to take on more, including supporting our CFO on other projects as needed.\nWhat You'll Do\nMatch vendor invoices to packing slips and purchase orders to confirm we received what we're paying for\nConfirm the required approvals are on every invoice before it's processed\nFollow up with project managers and purchasers until their purchase orders are correct, complete, and documented\nReview actual costs against purchase orders and maintain cost records\nPrepare and send accurate, timely sales invoices, and issue credit memos for returns or billing corrections\nCheck data in the accounting system before final billing\nSupport the CFO on other accounting projects as needed\nWhat We're Looking ForRequired:\n1 year or more in cost accounting, accounts payable, general accounting, or a similar role\nStrong attention to detail and solid math skills\nWillingness to push back, professionally, and follow an issue through until it's resolved, including with people senior to you\nStrong Excel skills and experience with ERP or accounting software\nIntegrity and discretion with confidential information\nWorking knowledge of accounting procedures and GAAP\nPreferred:Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field\n2 years or more in cost accounting, cost analysis, or general accounting\nSchedule and LocationThis is an in-person role, Monday through Friday, at our office in Waco.
