Apply Now!\nTHE VALUE YOU'LL BRING:\nJoin the team as an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator where you will enhance Environmental, Health, and Safety at our Smithfield Foods location! In this key role, you will help implement policies that prioritize Worker Safety and EHS compliance. You will support the EHS Team by leveraging your knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and regulatory frameworks to exceed compliance standards and support our best-in-industry EHS operation. Join us in making a meaningful impact on the safety and sustainability of our operations!\nWHAT YOU'LL DO:\nThe below statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. May perform other duties as assigned.\nEHS Program Management: You will support the management of location EHS programs including program updates, inspections of equipment and processes, metrics and other duties as requested. You will assist in completing applications for environmental permits to prevent a lapse in coverage.\n\nProcess Safety and Security: You will support compliance with Process Safety Management/Risk Management plan requirements for the ammonia refrigeration system and help ensure the Site Security Plan is followed.\n\nData Tracking and Reporting: You will be responsible for gathering and tracking key EHS key performance indicators such as OSHA/environmental violations, incident rates, employee turnover, workers’ compensation claims, and audit results. You will assist in reviewing and monitoring all incident investigation reports and employee exposure surveys to completion ensuring tracking and closure of identified action items.\n\nISO Certification Support: You will support location ISO certification management teams and documentation control requirements. You will work with the location team to ensure conformance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs as well as support maintenance of Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) programs.\n\nTraining and Compliance: You will help provide adequate training for production employees and management staff as required by OSHA and environmental permits. You will ensure adherence to company policies and reporting non-compliance for correction or re-training. You will support the determination of location compliance with safety processes, and environmental permits and plans including wastewater, air, storm water permits, and SPCC plan.\n\nTeam Collaboration: As a member of the EHS team, you will ensure effective implementation and maintenance of all EHS requirements. You will provide support to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.\n\nWHAT WE'RE SEEKING:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. \nHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 2+ years of relevant experience.\n\nExperienced at handling multiple assignments simultaneously, setting goals, and completing commitments on schedule.\n\nAccustomed to working long hours, weekends, and remaining in an on-call status when required.\n\nOccasional travel involved to collaborate with others\n\nOTHER SKILLS THAT MAKE YOU STAND OUT:\nGood decision maker and ability to perform in stressful situations.\n\nDemonstrated computer skills, particularly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and company software packages.\n\nAbility to write reports, business correspondence and procedures in English\n\nBasic math skills to manage Key Performance Indicators.\n\nAbility to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.\n\nAbility to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment\n\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:\nThe plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.\n\nNoise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.\n\nOccasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.\n\nIndoor and outdoor work environments.\n\nSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.\n\nFrequently required to stand; walk; use stairs, some ladder climbing, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear.\n\nWork alternate shifts and some weekends.\n\nAbility to deliver information to diverse audiences.\n\nFundamental mathematical skills for managing Key Performance Indicators.\n\nEmbody respect, approachability, and a team-oriented demeanor for fostering robust working relationships and cultivating a positive work environment.\n\nThrive in collaborating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.\n\nThe expected pay range for this position is $21.63 - $31.25 per hour.\n\nSmithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire.
